The opportunity where you will make an impact:


The CI Manager is accountable for delivering a continuous improvement mind set across all areas of Product Supply. This is a key role within the business unit and the successful candidate will take ownership of the GPS (Glanbia Performance System) as well as leading our development of key business processes, through partnership internally at every level within the Product Supply Organisation, HR, Finance and Commercial teams, as well vendors and external advisors, as appropriate.


Reporting to the Regional Product Supply Director and based primarily at the Middlesbrough Manufacturing site where you will join an established Leadership team responsible for end to end supply chain activity across Europe and some international markets beyond. The role will be an individual contributor, but it is the intention to develop a small team under this role as we extend the influence & reach of the programs we undertake to deliver a culture of excellence within an agile supply model that more than meets business & customer growth requirements.


  • Design and rollout of a Continuous Improvement culture across the Product Supply functions.
  • Liaise with other Business Units on the development, use and best practice application of GPS (Glanbia Performance System).
  • Develop a pipeline of projects / activities to be shared and agreed with stakeholders as part of our strategy (OGSM).
  • Champion the value chain principles across departments to achieve greater business efficiencies in daily operations from supplier to customer.
  • Work with the engineering function to support on capital investment identification and the development of maintenance strategies e.g. AMIS model.
  • Develop robust performance measurement tools and systems to ensure that the key metrics are delivering the expected results and to highlight areas that require further focus or problem solving. Specific Lag measures will be developed in areas where programs are instigated but the overall expectation would be a 0.5% Improvement on Total COGs YOY.
  • Identify appropriate internal and external partners who will facilitate in delivering the CI agenda.
  • Develop a program to facilitate the supported increase in competency in CI through Lean and GPS methodologies at all levels in Product Supply to facilitate central or departmental project activities to agreed outcomes.
  • Identify and support projects to improve route to market and cost to serve across the total supply network; plant to plant / inbound, warehousing and outbound
  • Identify and / or support projects to improve Safety or Food Safety
  • Root cause failures to customer and actions plans to achieve a consistent 97% + OTIF
  • Improve factory efficiency OEE Year on Year to achieve world class status of 85% +
  • Increase capability of GNUK Middlesbrough in CI, Lean and GPS.
  • Assist in the building of strategic medium to long term plans (3-5+ years that will align and drive the CI agenda with business and growth plans Decision Making/Problem Solving

  • This role as part of the Leadership Team for Product Supply in the region will be you will direct influence over daily operations and will be the focus for all CI works within the Business Unit.

  • Periodic reporting will be required on progress, direction and ambition to the BU Leadership Group and the Regional and Global Leadership teams.
  • You will be required to build and advise on appropriate budgets, including capital spend, and take these through to approval against GPN process.

What you will bring to GPN:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 15 years in Manufacturing roles
  • Minimum 7 years in CI roles
  • Leadership experience
  • Proven experience & success in the implementation of sustained improvements in Supply Chain & Operational performance from concept to delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques. Green Belt minimum qualification.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams to deliver a network-wide change agenda across multiple countries.
  • Experience with multiple product & project management methodologies.
  • Ability to dive deep into processes and drive results and collaborate with multiple levels in an organisation in a variety of approaches depending on the goal and nature of the problem.
  • Skills & competency to deliver training or maintain skills across the company to an aligned CI approach. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired and frequency of change is increasing.
  • Ability to identify and work with appropriate & reputable external partners that will assist in identifying opportunities and exploiting them to maximum potential, at pace.
