The Transport Planner / Administrator will be responsible for supporting the logistics function in the management of UK exports to the EU – focusing largely on the reduction of spend and reporting of performance and financial KPIs to the business.


The opportunity where you will make an impact:

  • Support the planning and management of UK to EU exports
  • Liaise with transport carriers, UK and EU warehouses to book in transport where applicable and support in operational trouble-shooting where appropriate  
  • Communicate with transport carriers, warehouses, customs and customer services to monitor export load statuses  
  • Update weekly and daily export trackers and share key distribution status updates and transport KPIs to the wider business
  • Work with carriers and customs to report on, and minimise extra charges and tracking demurrage
  • Support the roll-out of supply chain efficiency projects and changes in ways of working across sites
  • Support in the development of on-site KPIs and performance dashboards, plus improvements in network reporting
  • Support the financial elements of the logistics function including invoice and purchase order management and financial tracking and reporting- where applicable

  • Constant focus on reducing cost and improving overall efficiencies


Success Measures

  • KPIs kept within agreed SLAs and all demurrage and extra charges kept to an absolute minimum
  • Transport resource booked and despatched within agreed SLAs and all vet resource maximised daily to their full potential
  • Business are appropriately kept updated with load statuses


What you will bring to GPN:

  • Transport / supply chain / logistics background
  • Excellent communicator – with an ability to adapt to audience where appropriate
  • Organised with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong Excel skills, with an ability to work with multiple spreadsheets
  • Results-orientated problem solver
  • Keen “improvement” / efficiency mind-set
  • Ability to work well under pressure or be able to adapt to last minute changes to workload or ways of working
  • Knowledge of general warehousing / transport ways of working – desirable
  • Financial knowledge / exposure / background – desirable but not essential
