External Manufacturing Manager

Job Summary:


We are looking for an External Manufacturing Manager with the ability to work in a fast paced and constantly evolving environment. Reporting to the Supply Chain Director for South Asia and META (Middle East, Africa & Turkey), this is critical and a visible supply chain role that will be accountable for managing end to end operations at Co-manufacturing (co-man) sites in India. Major responsibilities will include ensuring timely delivery of finished goods from Co-man sites, inventory management, project management and execution for new product developments, formulation changes, packaging changes and so on, negotiations for material pricing & conversion cost, driving supply chain efficiencies and finished goods logistics management. Responsibilities will also include selection, qualification and commercialization of new co-man sites as needed. Strong collaboration with cross functional internal teams and co-man teams will be required with prime objective to deliver high level of customer service supported by efficient and agile supply chain processes. In addition to having excellent organizational skills, he/she should also possess in-depth knowledge of Supply Chain Processes and systems.





Operations Management at Co-man site:


  • Act as main point of contact between Glanbia and Co-man site and ensure strong collaboration and relationship management
  •  Derive production plans for Co-man site based on demand & supply planning and S&OP discussion
  •      Lead the S&OP process at co-man site involving all the relevant stakeholders to align on production plans, review KPIs, review & resolve any operation issue to ensure timely delivery of products
  •  Provide required support to co-man site on material planning and procurement
  •  Manage commercial negotiations, reconciliations and financial requirements
  •  Distribution planning and logistics management from co-man site
  •  Inventory management and reconciliations
  •  Resolve any other operational issues at co-man site


Project Management and Execution


  •  Drive project management and executions for new product development / launches, formulation & packaging changes, supplier & material qualifications etc
  •      Drive Phase-in Phase-out and New Product Launch forecasting process
  •  Drive process & capability improvements. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and cost savings
  •  Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely delivery of projects within set budgets 


Sourcing and Negotiations

  •     Prepare and implement sourcing strategy for raw and packaging materials to de-risk supply chain and ensuring supply chain reliability
  •  Find opportunities to drive cost improvements though negotiations, alternate supplier / material developments, planned procurement of key raw materials
  •  Effective Negotiations with co-man site as and when needed


Drive Co-man Network footprint Strategy


  •  Prepare a network strategy for co-man sites based on business needs, new product pipelines, supply continuity & de-risking and value optimization
  •  Align network strategies with key stakeholders including global teams
  •  Identify co-man sites, drive selection process, lead negotiations and ensure implementation


Skills Needed:


  •  In depth experience in supply chain especially for managing external manufacturers, sourcing and negotiations
  •  Outstanding analytical, problem solving and organizational abilities
  •  Extensive spreadsheet analysis and strong mathematical abilities
  •  Fluency in communication (both verbal and written)
  •  Knowledge of SAP, JDA / ERP or other software related to WMS would be advantageous
  •  Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the fulfilment process


Required Education/Experience:


  •  A qualified MBA in Operations/ Supply chain from a premier business school preferably with a prior engineering degree
  •      A minimum of 5-7 years of professional work experience with at least 2-3 years of experience in sourcing and external manufacturing operations
  •  Preferred Industry experience from FMCG /Foods & Beverages / Healthcare
