Amazing Grass - Senior National Account Executive

This role is accountable for achieving the sales objectives set by the Director of Sales, National Accounts and the company.  As a retail-driven brand, a strong retail focus and visual presence is necessary to insure achievement of company merchandising, shelving and pricing standards.  The Senior National Account Executive must have the experience and background in the areas of customer negotiation, planning and organizing, strategic thinking, financial acumen and personal leadership.


The position is home-office based; location is flexible but must be in a large metropolitan, preferably in the East Coast, Northeast or Mid-Central US.


The role will also require up to 50% travel (overnights required).


The company headquarters is located in Newport Beach, CA.


The Senior National Account Executive reports to the Director of Sales, National Accounts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build effective annual customer account plans – to include knowledge and expertise in the 4  P’s (Pricing, Placement, Promotion, Product.
  • Forecasting, Trade Management and P&L ownership
  • Build and sustain key customer relationships at all levels (buyers, merchandisers, retail operations, VP’s
  • Achieve quarterly/and annual profit and revenue goals
  • Work in close collaboration while being able to build strong work relationships with other cross functional teams to include Marketing, Operations, and Finance
  • Create and deliver customized sales presentations to all key decision makers (account level)
  • Display a good understanding of retail/consumer data (IRI/Nielsen, or other retail/consumer data)
  • Prepare, build out and present T2T presentation
  • Participate in trade shows, or other events, as needed


Channel Experience

  • Natural/Conventional/Drug Outlets is required – (some examples include Publix, Ahold (all divisions), Walgreens, CVS, and HyVee)
  • Specialty Channel ( examples include - The Vitamin Shoppe, GNC)
  • Experience within C-Store HQ/Distributors is a plus (examples include - CoreMark, McClane, HT Hackney, etc).
  • E-commerce experience is a plus, but not required


Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in traditional CPG or Natural Channel
  • Undergraduate Degree required, Business-related concentration preferred
  • Leadership Skills. The ability to motivate, lead and evaluate direct and retail brokers. Exploit strengths and react appropriately to weaknesses.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills and positive attitude a must.
  • Relevant industry experience required. The company competes in fast moving consumer goods, with primary customers such as Whole Foods, Loblaws and Amazon.
  • Persuasive Selling Skills. Ability to build and maintain customer and consumer relationships based on fact-based selling of product benefits, leading to development of an expanded customer base and growth of the existing base.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills. Ability to develop and present promotional plans and product information to retail stakeholders.
  • The candidate must be skilled in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.  Basic familiarity with other business software platforms such as SAP
