Job Summary
|
The Electro-mechanical technician is responsible for the maintenance (both preventative and emergent) and troubleshooting of systems and equipment within the plant. The candidate will test/troubleshoot Power Distribution systems (wiring, VFDs, etc), PLC Processors, instrumentation, etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)
|
- Be a member of the plant maintenance organization and remain involved in all projects at the Glanbia-Orange plant.
- Test and troubleshoot power distribution systems, program VFD’s, PLC processors, instrumentation, etc. Setup and program drives, transmitters, etc.
- Assist with instrument calibrations
- Calibrate PIDs, I/P’s, etc.
- Understanding of NFPA 70E
- Provide equipment electrical functionality to maintenance and operations employees as needed
- Review and understand program ladder logic; perform small modifications as needed.
- Must be proficient in all Allen Bradley PLC family and software.
- Responsible for work order execution and completion of electro-mechanical related tasks as assigned
- Participate on the preventative maintenance plan as assigned
- Responsible for creating, modifying, and editing orders in the SAP system as needed
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems and equipment
- Provide remote VPN or on call facility support and perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide timely planning of general work orders.
- Optimize planned maintenance routes (PM’s) and work with the Maintenance Manager.
- Optimize predictive maintenance practices
- Knowledge of air compressors, pumps and heat exchanges a plus
- Own electrical components in the plant (VFD’s, instrumentation, wiring, motors, panels, PLC’s, etc.)
- Facilitate “break down analysis” for each equipment failure based on a priority impacting the production schedule; troubleshoot electrical issues in the field.
- Maintain equipment history and equipment documents in a useable library.

- Requires an Associates Degree or five to seven years related experience
- Certified Electrician preferred
- Required experience with Allen-Bradley software, ASII network, Device-Net control Net

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

Physical Demands

Physcial Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
- Involves moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
- Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

- May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels (i.e. production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic).
- May be exposed to humidity, intense heat and cold, outdoor weather conditions, and fumes and toxic chemicals.
