New Product Manager- Greater China

This is focal point position to lead acceleration of New Product Development process for support the growth of providing Consumer products for the Greater China market. As a New Product Development Manager covering the Greater China region, he/she will work on facilitating and coordinating new product development projects in each stage of the NPD process and work closely together with cross-function teams to prepare the deliverables for each stage, which finally should lead to a commercial product launch. The NPD Manager will manage Greater China NPD pipe-line (both domestic and cross-border business) and ensure deliverables and timelines are set and met.



The Position:


  • Develop pool of insights (category, competitor, consumer, customer, & Company) as source ideas for innovation; ensure coordination and linkage with Global.
  • Build China portfolio architecture; ensure linkage with Global.
  • Facilitate, support and lead the NPD project teams and be responsible to commercially manage the Greater China NPD pipe-line; set (time) targets and schedule reviews to move projects efficiently and effectively through the NPD process; coordinate deliverables for each stage and support actively the NPD project teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Research & Development, Regulatory, Supply Chain and Greater China commercial teams (Domestic, Cross-Border, and Hong Kong/Taiwan commercial teams).
  • Interacts with colleagues in Compliance and Analytical to ensure regulatory and company requirements are met and required documentation made as per company’s SOP.
  • Determine (unmet) customers' needs and desires by specifying the (market) research needed to obtain market information and customer insights.
  • Idea generation - brainstorming and coming up with innovative new ideas.
  • Idea evaluation - filtering out any ideas not worth taking forward maybe through SWOT analysis.
  • Recommend the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraise new product development ideas with the team and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Assess market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products to identify opportunities.
  • Manage and Report on resource utilization and priorities across all key stakeholders.
  • Running and expanding our sensory evaluation systems as well as stability programs.
  • Bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; prepare return-on-investment analyses; establish time schedules.
  • Conduct formal review of formulation/ingredients to determine scientific viability and application as per local’s standards and guidelines
  • Conduct literature searches in support of substantiation of scientific claims.
  • Monitor regulatory trends, determine impacts on products
  • Market testing - modifying the product or service according to customer, manufacturer and support organisations' feedback. This involves deciding the best timing and process for piloting your new product or service.
  • Create commercial and technical marketing sell-in document for commercial teams based on value selling.
  • Determine product pricing based on value selling and by utilizing market research data; review production and sales costs; anticipate volume, etc.


The Preferred Candidate:


  • Recognized degree qualification in Marketing, Food Business/Science or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of NPD and project management experience.
  • Work well with cross-functional teams and take a leadership role within the team.
  • Well organized and disciplined adhering to time schedules.
  • B2C Consumer goods background preferable from Nutrition and General Health industry
  • Commercial knowledgeable, strategic thinking, logic-minded, data-based and fact-oriented
  • Good communication skills with presentable manner
  • Self-motivated, initiative, collaborative, passionate for sports ideally
  • Integrity, positive attitude, take the initiative, lead to the results
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Native Chinese with excellent written and spoken English
