Financial Accountant A&R Team

Glanbia Ireland owns leading consumer and agri brands such as Avonmore, Kilmeaden Cheese, Millac, Truly Grass Fed, Premier Milk, Wexford, mymilkman.ie, Glanbiaconnect.com, countrylife.ie and GAIN Animal Nutrition. 

We are currently recruiting two qualified financial accountants on a temporary basis, to join a dynamic team within Glanbia Ireland. These roles will report to the Central Accounting and Reporting Manager and will focus on Balance Sheet controls, planning and reporting, cashflow forecasting & responsibility for the valuation and control monitoring of inventory. The successful candidates will work within a busy team to safeguard the accuracy and integrity of the reported financial information and gain invaluable experience and knowledge within a large and complex business

 

Key Responsibilities;

  • Reporting of monthly actual and plan data across the business division.
  • Consolidation of monthly actual & plan P&Ls, Balance Sheets, Cashflows and further supplementary data for the business division via the group consolidation platform.
  • Variance Analysis (actual vs. plan) of working capital and provision of commercial explanations and recommendations as applicable.
  • Financial accounting across a range of company codes, including foreign exchange, hedging, tax, provisions, investments, reserves and pension.
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Compiling monthly cash forecasts to assess business borrowing requirements.
  • Risk assessment and monitoring of balance sheet control environment.
  • Development of forecast/budget Balance Sheet and Cash Flows for a number of company codes within the Glanbia business division, based on identifiable assumptions and ensuring accurate funding, working capital and debt levels are projected.
  • Advocate for adherence to the Group Policy manual and procedures and keep informed of updates to ensure ongoing compliance of ledgers under their control.
  • Update of finance master data for their respective company codes as and when required.
  • Set standards for monitoring the accounting and control for areas of the business and manage rollout.
  • Liaise with both internal and external auditors as required.
  • Input into schedules required for statutory reporting and tax compliance.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the sap inventory module including new system being rolled out in Q4 2022.
  • Work with manager to operate the monthly inventory valuation process.
  • Assessing accuracy of packing and ingredient usage cost, investigating variances and resolving as part of the month-end reporting cycle.
  • Continuous review of all inventory related finance models and valuation process in order to ensure accuracy and relevance to changing processes on the ground.
  • Support the preparation of gross margin variance analysis reports, with particular focus on revenue and cost of goods sold – a key requirement to understanding business performance.
  • Assist with the development of a methodology for the detailed analysis cost of goods sold variances verses plan.
  • On-going communications with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure timely and accurate recording of inventory.
  • Assessment of inventory obsolescence and ensuring this is correctly accounted for (finished goods, packing and engineering).
  • Work with Accounting & Reporting peers to drive process improvement, reporting capability development, finance automation and assigned projects / objectives.
  • Collaboration with and support of team members in delivery of tasks. Work with wider A&R team, wider Finance team, Shared Services, Group Finance and Glanbia Business Services.
  • Other ad hoc duties/responsibilities as they arise.

 

Key competencies:

Key Requirements:

  • Performance & results driven approach
  • Degree qualified with professional accounting qualification – a minimum of 5 years PQE required
  • Experience of ERP systems, SAP & Data Warehousing platforms and report design would be an advantage
  • Advanced knowledge & proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel would be an advantage to build and maintain detailed models.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent reporting & presentation skills
