Job Summary
Manage all planning variables such as demand, inventory, line capacities, resource and supply constraints, lead times, etc. to generate time phased production and sourcing schedules for ingredients and finished goods according to established planning policies. The ultimate goal is to ensure product availability that supports customer service level targets.
Essential Functions
- Generate time phased production and sourcing schedules, supporting both ingredients and finished goods planning according to established planning policies.
- Perform material requirements planning (MRP), managing all planning variables such as demand consumption, inventory levels, lead times, etc. to generate time phased plans for material/ingredient needs.
- Monitor actual and projected stock levels versus target. Highlight variances and drive cross functional actions as necessary to prevent, minimize, and correct stock exceptions.
- Analyze and communicate constrained materials and recovery plans with relevant teams (Planning, Procurement, etc). Work with Procurement Team to ensure inventory meets the demands and expedite/de-expedite materials to prevent shortages/overages.
- Maintain control over inventory levels. Manage obsolescence of raw material by phasing out old and phasing in new skus, while maintaining proper inventory levels within network constraints.
- Maintain appropriate safety stock levels to meet targeted goals for on time customer delivery.
- Ensure all executional steps for finished product replenishment remain on track, monitoring physical product movement and information flow from procurement through quality release to meet on time customer service targets.
- Adhere to stocking principles, planning rules, SOPs, etc., keeping up with business changes.
- Participate in regular meetings with plant Operations teams to review scheduled production requirements for optimal plant scheduling. Monitor and track production performance, reporting plant KPI data, such as schedule adherence, schedule attainment, quality, yield, and turnaround times. Work with plant operations to identify actions required to meet target performance.
- Actively participate in monthly Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP) meetings to guide commercial and financial business decisions based on current and projected supply positions.
- Coordinate with Contract Manufacturing Materials Manager for distribution and material needs, if required.
- Keep Sales Managers and Customer Service up to date on product availability. Identify and communicate changes in lead times, stock locations, etc.
- Maintain systems master data and planning parameters (e.g. SAP, JDA, etc.).
- Meet regularly with Commercialization Manager, Product Managers, Research & Development and Quality Assurance to understand the new product pipeline. Provide input to support the transition of products from commercialization to full scale planning.
- Identify major variances to forecast and communicate issues to the Demand Planner.
- Issue weekly/monthly performance reports related to inventory, production attainment, and schedule adherence. Highlight issues and recommend corrective actions on an on-going basis.
- Prepare and generates reports as assigned.

- Attend sales meetings and other meetings as deemed appropriate
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
