MWC is a state of the art cheese and whey production facility in St. Johns, MI. MWC is a joint venture between Glanbia Nutritionals, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) and Select Milk Producers Inc. (Select).

 

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring warehouse functions efficiently for both the Cheese and Powder warehouses in a safe working environment.  Oversees and organizes with Customer Service and Sales what products are available for specific customers then allocates and coordinates product movement with logistics and other warehouses. Drives team to provide perfect order satisfaction to customers in quality, order fulfillment and on-time delivery.

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop and lead the culture of the warehouse team that displays behaviors that support a “world class customer service” operation, supported by leadership that models a “can do” attitude.
  • Responsible for management of warehouse personnel including candidate selection and performance management.
  • Responsible for selection and allocation of product, for both warehouses, to meet and exceed customer needs.
  • Responsible for daily shipping schedules for both warehouses.
  • Work with QA on a variety of issues including: re-classing and COA’s clarification.
  • Works with sales/quality assurance to identify and classify Premium vs. down grade product. 
  • Resolve shipping related customer complaints and implement procedures required to prevent future complaints.
  • Responsible for accurate documentation and record keeping for all warehouse functions.
  • Perform complex transactions and run reports using an advanced ERP computer software system to allocate, confirm, and ship product to customers. 
  • Conduct cycle counts, monthly, and year-end inventory for both warehouses.
  • Order warehouse packaging materials as needed.
  • Supply accurate shipment documentation in a timely manner to internal departments for billing and transport purposes.
  • Plans layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock.
  • Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock.
  • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
  • Accurately and clearly communicate requirements to external vendors/subcontractors, both verbally and in writing.
  • Participate in cross functional meetings as required.
  • Ability to make presentations to management, propose capital requests and manage projects.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of MWC non-negotiables.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health  Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)

Additional Functions

  • Coordinate and schedule with external sub-contractors, external warehouses, or other 3PL providers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SAP experience Required
  • Ability to run, or learn to run and troubleshoot all equipment in the Warehouse.
  • Excellent attendance and safety record.
  • Desire to grow with the company.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Possess general understanding of export requirements and policies.            
  • Ability to calculate correct percentages of product types to be used in product blends, based on existing recipes/formulas.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Possess good understanding of OSHA, USDA, HACCP, Loss Control, and Safety policies/practices.

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Should be able to judge distances and spatial relationships.

 

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment and light traffic).
  • May work near mechanical moving parts and in cold temperatures.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel limited within the local area.
