Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

General Summary: To perform routine manufacturing equipment maintenance duties to ensure equipment is capable of running efficiently at all times and in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s).

 

Essential Functions:

  • Performs minor and major repair of equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.
  • Calibrates and repairs pneumatics systems.
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • May obtain estimates from suppliers, repair parts, orders parts as needed
  • Assist production manager as needed
  • Ensure production personnel practice safe habits and follow safety rules.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Advanced knowledge of GMP/HACCP.
  • Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read simple instructions and follow simple diagrams.
  • Ability to perform simple tasks independently after being given specific instructions.
  • Ability to stand and climb to perform repairs.  Use ladder & perform various types of manual labor.
  • Ability to sufficiently use hand tools.
  • Ability to read and write English fluently.

       

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of professional experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

Physical Demands: (The work is classified as Light - Medium Physical Demand level (PDL) by the US Dept. of Labor’s Dictionary of Occupational Titles.)

Frequencies: Occasional (1-33%); Frequent (34-66%); Continuous (67-100%)


Lifting Demands:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis floor to waist.
  • Carry up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis up to 25 feet.

 

Postural Demands:

  • Sitting - occasional
  • Standing - frequent
  • Walking - frequent
  • Bending/stooping - frequent
