Job Summary
The Quality Manager will manage and drive all aspects of the corrective action preventive action process towards a goal of reducing quality events and out of specification products. This position will assure compliance to food safety and quality standards throughout our West Haven and Orange sites.
Essential Functions
- Organize, coordinate, monitor, and champion the Quality System and Food Safety Systems in accordance to BRC requirements – Pre-requisite programs, HACCP, FSMA and Food Quality plans
- Leader of the Quality Pillar and driver of continuos improvements for Zero quality defects utilizing GPS tools and principles.

Provide leadership and support to ensure all our internal and external processes are fully capable to deliver premium product to customers on timely basis.
- PCQI Practitioner for the site, overseeing the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the BRC programs with annual review and responsible for validating any changes to the Food Safety and Food Quality Plans
- Ensure customer specifications are being met and manage complaint investigations and customer responses.
- Participate in all State, FDA, USDA, PMO, and other third party audits ensuring corrective actions are completed and documented.
- Work with plant management to track plant Quality performance to key performance indicators (KPI).
- Ensure employees have adequate knowledge of GMP’s and Food Safety programs and supervise that training is completed per requirements and is effective.
- Responsible for documentation and corrective actions involving Quality Systems
- Coordinate timely responses on customer opportunities and implement corrective and preventative actions according to site priorities
- NCR’s are issued, investigated, root cause is determined/documented and that they are closed on time with appropriate and effective corrective action/resolutions
- Follow up and document that preventative actions are in place and working effectively.
- Coordinates with internal teams on corrective/preventative action plans and Non-Conformance Report’s
- Updates NCRs in quality system with appropriate action plans.
- Reports on CAPA and NCR status to management groups
- Participates in audits as needed
- Performs trend analysis on identified issues
- Investigates Quality Events and develop preventive action.
- May provide formal response relating to QE's in our CRM, or direct to the Customer.
- Trouble shoots daily quality issues relating to production, warehousing, maintenance and quality control assays, customer service and R&D.
- Assures that the company is in compliance with its Quality System.
- Works with all departments in a positive manner to achieve the company’s quality goals.
- Assigns work and performs all necessary supervisory duties of staff including but not limited to: Interviewing; Hiring and termination recommendations; Training; Performance reviews; Disciplinary actions; etc.
- Maintains up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that effect quality issues.
- Leads the CAPA meetings and is responsible for the success of these meetings.
- Responsible for answering, tracking, and closing all customer complaints in a timely manner – “quality events”.
- Works with customers, other departments and suppliers to expedite and or resolve quality problems to ensure quality expectations are met.
- Supervises QA inspectors for our West Haven and Orange sites
- Subject matter expert for QA processes
- Evaluates quality and food safety issues to determine putting products on hold and issues dispositions.
- Timely and regular attendance is required.
Additional Functions
- Responsible for product release and ensuring that master data is updated in accordance to set specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned
