Job Summary

Manage all inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments. 
 

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for schedule moderate volume of shipments in a manner that supports the plants and the on-time-delivery expectations of the customer
  • Work closely with Customer Service, and Warehouses to manage orders to meet their requirement s
  • Utilize appropriate shipping methods (FTL, LTL, intermodal, rail, ocean, etc.) to maximize service and cost
  • Provide required export shipping documents that support international documentation requirements
  • Work with freight forwarders to obtain quotes for ocean movements, identify fees, container availability and booking of vessels as needed to meet order needs
  • Hold carriers and freight forwarders accountable for agreed pricing and service standards
  • Maintain relationships with transportation  vendors and use these relationships to improve transportation  effectiveness
  • Perform data analysis and reports weekly/monthly to illustrate trends or opportunities for improvement
  • Review with carrier their performance report for on time pickup and delivery scores
  • Utilize SAP for all aspects of load scheduling and load completion
  • Manage the SAP freight purchase order system through to SAP purchase order completion
  • Track and trace all active shipments, and promptly address all internal and external issues
  • Ensure the freight accrual reporting is current and accurate for your managed shipments
  • Maintain logistics master data in an accurate and timely manner
  • Provide backup and support  to team members in the transportation planning function as needed

 

Qualifications

 

  • Associate's Degree and a minimum of one year international V domestic shipping experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to provide direction to suppliers and hold the suppliers accountable for performance.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal and external customers and other parties , regulatory agencies, or members of the business
  •  Self-directed and able to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,  ratios, and proportions to practical situations

 

  • Ability to solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, word processing, graphics, etc.
  • Intermediate MS Excel functionality and reporting skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts
