Maintenance Mechanic

  • To maintain the company’s facilities and machines to enable an efficient manufacturing operation.




  • Responsible and accountable for completing assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Responsible and accountable for the accuracy and quality of work performed.




  • 5 or more years of experience as an industrial mechanic.
  • High school graduate (min.), prefer some one with training in trade school
  • Experience in a food industry a plus
  • Have hands on electro-mechanical experience
  • The candidate should have an ability to read shop and electrical drawings for parts, dimensioning, and troubleshooting.
  • The mechanic should be able to communicate and document the work in process and /or completed during the shift.
  • The mechanic should be able to troubleshoot electromechanical & pneumatic equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and work with minimal guidance on a 3- phase, 480 volt equipment.
  • The candidate must be able to work safely and follow all safety procedures.



  • General Knowledge of the food manufacturing process.
  • Must speak, read, and write using the English language.
  • Able to multi task and bring tasks to closure.
  • Must have follow-thru skills.
  • Must be “level-headed” and work in a professional manner with all levels of employees.
  • Self starter, team oriented, able to get along with employees at all levels.
  • Must be able to work longer hours as requested
  • Must be able to work in noisy factory environment. Also, must be able to work in areas processing powders and liquids at high temperature.
  • Must be able to work most of their time standing and /or bending
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills.

  • Excellent record keeping skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills.
  • Must be a “hands-on” “team-player” leader.
  • Able to plan and accomplish job from start to finish, with emphasis on the use of task lists, specification, schedules, and other instructions.
  • Able to drive a forklift / reach truck
  • Inverters and soft starters
  • Welding – gas –mig-tig
  • Plumbing
  • Steam piping , steam traps &  trouble shooting
  • Fluidized beds
  • Blenders – V shell & paddle
  • Bridgeports and lathes
  • Programmable load controls (PLC’s)
  • DC controls (4-20 ma & vdc)
  • Trouble shooting and repairing of scales
  • Pneumatic controls and sensors
  • Use of hand tools, verniers, and micrometers
  • Boilers, air compressors, DI water, pumps, heat exchangers, and other process equipments
  • Able to learn new equipment and controls
  • Able to inventory and / or order parts
  • Familiarity  with HVAC systems a plus




  • Comprehensive knowledge of all equipment used in Production including:
        • What equipment is required to process different products.
  • How the equipment operates.
  • How the equipment is set up.
  • What periodic maintenance is required.
  • What the proper cleaning procedures are for all circumstances.
  • When the equipment is not operating as it should.
  • Inspects equipment for cleanliness between products and documents in log book.



  • Familiarity with the company's products including:
  • What the products are.
  • How the products are processed.
  • How the products behave during processing.
  • Understands cGMP's.



  • cGMP
  • SOPs as required.
  • All PPE as required.
  • General Supervisory Training.
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.
  • Machine operation for all machines in department.




  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention required.
  • May be required to operate a forklift.




  • Safety glasses as required.
  • Uniforms.
  • Hair nets.
  • Gloves.
  • “Dust” masks as needed.
  • Any other PPE as needed/required.




  • Works in an assembly facility with air borne particles and moderate noise levels.




  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
