This role is for Senior Accountant on the Accounting and Control team of the Glanbia Nutrition business based in West Haven, Connecticut.  This role will be responsible for the integrity of the financial processes and financial information for the business (three locations). This person will play a leading role in the Accounts Payable and Treasury Management function thus maintaining and oversight of the control environment. This will include taking a leading role in the management of the month-end close and budget/forecasting cycles.  Emphasis is on providing timely, relevant and accurate information in a dynamic environment, where accurate information is paramount and essential in supporting operational and strategic decision-making.  The role will also be responsible for the Balance Sheet, ensuring all Balance Sheet accounts are fully reconciled and the control environment is appropriate and robust to support the financial records. This will include liaising with central A&C, Commercial, Operations and Group Finance teams and both internal and external auditors. The Senior Accountant will also play a supporting role in the overall continued integration of the Watson business into Glanbia Nutritionals.




  • Lead and oversee the day to day running of the accounting and control function of the Watson business
  • Oversight of Accounts Payable and Treasury function and associated controls
  • Lead the month end close process and budget/forecasting cycles for the business with associated reporting and controls
  • Support the Finance Manager in consolidation of monthly actual results and feed into the monthly reporting process led by the Glanbia consolidation team
  • Management and coaching of direct reports including a Finance Analyst
  • Co-ordinate the Month End close process ensuring group deadlines are met
  • Ensure that the required accounting control procedures are in place and are effective.  This includes the control and reconciliation of the Balance Sheet in line with the Balance Sheet responsibility matrix
  • Manage the Internal and external audits and effort in ensuring compliance with Glanbia accounting policies, including internal controls
  • Cash Flow Forecasting & Working Capital Management
  • Liaise with Group Finance functions to ensure compliance and alignment with Group policies and expectations around risk management
  • Support the Watson team as the integration progresses through 2021
  • Support financial process and systems improvement activity ensuring all Glanbia financial planning and reporting processes are optimized and aligned with overall reporting structure.



Education, Training:

  • Professional Accounting qualification required
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum 3-5 years post qualification finance experience gained in a variety of finance environments including significant financial planning and analysis and financial control experience

Experience Required:   

  • Strong financial acumen including strong technical accounting skills.  Must possess a broad business perspective and have a ‘hands-on’ and in-depth understanding of financial information

  • Ability to work in a cross functional matrix organization
  • Hands on experience of using and operating SAP systems or equivalents and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
