This position is responsible for designing and developing new assigned product development and process improvement concepts.





  • Develops new products using technologies including, but not limited to, micronizing, microencapsulation, particle manipulation, spray coating, drying, bead technology, micelle, and concertation and cross linking.
  • Tests product to ensure that the delivery system worked and monitor via stability as needed.
  • Works with new and established products to identify, recommend, and implement improvements, modifications, or additions
  • Assists product transition from development through scale up and commercialization.
  • Has a passion to create, explore and innovate, leveraging our customer’s needs into new products.
  • Collaborate with R&D groups, quality, manufacturing, purchasing, and external suppliers
  • Determines project scope, develops plan of investigation and finalizes product specifications and product manufacturing procedures.  Projects may include travel to third party manufacturing and client sites.
  • Investigates new technologies and technologies not currently in use at Glanbia.
  • Responsible for staying up-to-date technically and applying that knowledge on the job.
  • Uses experimental design to conduct pilot and plant trials.
  • Applies a creative approach to problem solving.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable quality regulations including cGMPs, FDA, GFSI and HACCP.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Writes production batch records and procedures
  • Drafts, reviews, and implements the processing parameters of batch records and related documentation.
  • Completes additional tasks and projects as assigned by management.



Education, Training:      


  • Preferred education:  B.S. or B.E degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry.


Experience Required:


  • 1-3 years of relevant lab or scientific experience or product development experience


Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:       


  • Must be able to meet project deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently, be driven and have a positive attitude.
  • Has basic unit operations knowledge and can utilize that to experiment, discover new technology, and research ways to implement at Glanbia.
  • Must be able to successfully troubleshoot problems found independently if possible or seek out team support as needed.
  • Must have excellent decision making, reasoning, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to maintain a detailed lab notebook and apply lab GLPs.
  • Must be able to maintain a clean workplace including but not limited to the R&D labs utilized.
  • Must be organized, thorough, and self-motivated.
  • Must be able to use DOE to further experimentation and report results to supervisor.
  • Must be able to follow up and participate on project scale up activity in production.
  • Must have familiarity with cGMP’s, SOP’s, HAACP’s, or other similar quality programs.
  • Must be computer literate (Excel, Word, Outlook) and willing to learn new software (NAV).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willing to be hands on.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be interested in learning new technologies.

Physical Requirements:


  • Moderate physical effort required.
  • Must be able to lift 55lbs throughout the shift.


Typical Environmental Conditions


  • Works in a powder processing manufacturing facility with moderate noise.



  • Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
