Job Summary

Develop and manage capital improvement projects throughout the entire project cycle, from initial concept through successful completion. Manage site capital plan and budget, setting out five year capital improvement plan. Responsible for developing projects, following early management principles to successfully execute against. To finish assigned engineering projects in accordance with customer specifications, within schedule and budget limitation. Project engineer will coordinating activities of cross-functional projects team, contractors, and vendors. In addition to managing projects, project engineer will also support site in troubleshooting process challenges, as well as identify efficiency opportunities to advance process and operation.


Essential Functions.

  • As a self-motivated leader, effectively manage projects by:
  • Utilizing team management skills to lead the design group during the conceptual phase of project development.
  • Developing agreed project success criteria based on performance, schedule, and budget.
  • Directing development of an action plan and requirements for resource management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project.
  • Assessing vendors for competence, capabilities, resources, and financial status. Solicit and review bid documents.
  • Actively manages progress of project, comparing actuals with estimates.
  • Working with design group to modify plans as appropriate if problems arise.
  • Preparing monthly reports, detailing progress and costs of projects for management.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses, and upholds the culture of Glanbia non-negotiables.


Additional Functions

  • Provide engineering suport to plant managers and maintenance departments.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • B.S. in Engineering plus a minimum of 2 years of experience or equivalent years of experience.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in oral and written form.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and lead teams of people through projects to successful completion.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Proficient in project management software, preferably MSProject.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill

Physical Demands

  • Regularly involves sitting, talking or listening and the use of hands and fingers.
  • Frequently standing and walking.
  • Occasionally involves reaching with hands and arms, stoops, crouches, climbs and/or balances.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.


Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment or light traffic).
  • May be subject to areas of air-contamination, areas of high humidity, high heat, vibrations, exposure to toxic fumes and poorly lighted areas
  • May work above ground level where a possibility of fall exists and near moving mechanical parts


Travel Requirements

  • Overnight travel (up to 15%) by land and/or air.
