The Opportunity 

 

Our Research Assistant supports the R&D facility with project processing – there are many elements to this role with both office and pilot plant responsibilities. Our Research Assistant will be able to support our Innovation efforts by tracking intellectual property, supporting scientists with processing and prototype development from creation to delivery. They will maintain and update various logs to ensure we are compliant with regulations.  This role coordinates office events such as safety meetings, cleaning and building maintenance. This role will be a great opportunity for anyone looking to gain experience in Food Science and Innovation. 

  • Prepare new cap-ex consideration documentation, entering approved capex purchase requisitions, tracking project expenses, keeping current capex reports.
  • Maintain the product sample display table and the current publication library.    
  • Extracting reports from our SAP system as needed.
  • Support research scientists with projects (packaging & shipping prototypes to global recipients)
  • Support the pilot plant with larger scale projects trials.
  • Enter requisitions for all products, supplies, equipment, contracted research, and research materials purchased.
  • Enter and edit in the End Note program the R&D Libraries including but not limited to; research documents, published scientific journal articles, patents and patent applications, pending patent documentation, product, and ingredient information. 
  • Schedule monthly safety meetings for the R&D group.
  • Maintain the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) books for the lab as required by O.S.H.A. 
  • With our travel agency, coordinate flights, hotels, car rentals for the R&D staff and guests to the R&D location. 

 

 

The Skills you will bring to the team

  • Must have an Associate’s Degree in a Science Based discipline.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
