Role Profile
Reporting to the Chief Financial & Secretariat Officer, this Senior Leadership role is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational excellence of Group Cash Management, Treasury Operations, Tax & Central Procurement.
Responsibilities
Treasury Operations
- Owner of Group Treasury policy, ensuring best practice levels of governance, compliance & controls, to include the effective management of currency and interest rate risk as part of the Group profit assurance framework
- Provide for effective funding management, ensuring optimal debt drawdown from available facilities in balance with the Group’s ongoing liquidity needs
- Ensure optimum business banking service levels & solutions in response to both existing and emerging Group requirements
- Work with the Treasury Operations Team to deliver ongoing process efficiency initiatives and Treasury platform evolution
Cash Management
- Responsible for Group liquidity, to include the delivery of peak, average and year-end cash performance targets, in addition to lender covenant compliance
- Oversight of the Group cash forecasting platform, with delivery of predictive analysis to determine short and medium-term probable outcomes versus target
- Ensure performance driven actions are taken in collaboration with commercial stakeholder groups in order to proactively deliver on cash generation imperatives
Strategic Financing
- Responsible for the delivery of optimum capitalisation structures for the Group, across senior debt, value chain finance and potentially bond-related instruments
- Manage corporate banking relationships both individually and across lending syndicate structures, whilst ensuring optimum pricing / cost outcomes
- Act as a key advisor to the Chief Financial & Secretariat Officer and Executive Leadership Team with regard to funding structures in support of the strategic growth ambitions of the Co-Op
- Owner of investment reporting & performance tracking with a view to ensuring full clarity at both Executive and Board levels
Procurement
Oversee the effective provision of services by working with the Head of Procurement to ensure:
- Effective leverage of Group purchasing scale & synergy opportunities
- High performing pricing positions across central purchasing categories
- Strong pricing risk management, particularly in commoditised cost areas
- Robust procurement policy, compliance & controls, to include optimum operational efficiency of SAP procurement mechanisms
- Collaborative value-add delivery in conjunction with material spend owners
Tax
Oversee the effective provision of services by working with the Head of Tax to ensure:
- Robust compliance frameworks, together with strong risk management
- Fulfilment of statutory returns across direct and indirect tax categories
- Ongoing review of tax structure efficiency for the Group, to include the support of the strategic growth ambitions of Co-Op
- Ongoing review of the tax legislation landscape, with a proactive view of emerging changes with potential to impact the Group
- Effective management of Revenue relationships and strong oversight of Revenue audit activity
People Leadership
- Lead a high-performing team by fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Motivate and engage team members by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and supporting professional development to ensure individuals reach their full potential
Requirements
- Degree qualified, with relevant membership of a recognised Accounting or Treasury related body
- 10+ years post qualification experience within a large, dynamic Corporate environment
- Strategic mindset, with a willingness to consider the future-state within decision-making frameworks
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience of value-add delivery
- Exposure to banking structures and the capitalisation of large Corporates
- Robust exposure to control, compliance and policy environments
- Proven track-record of cash management target delivery is desirable
- Strong people management and development skills
- Strong leadership & collaboration skills, with the ability to successfully manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships
