Job Summary:

The Plant Supply Chain Lead will own end-to-end inbound, outbound, Procurement and logistics for the Ahmedabad Manufacturing Plant, managing raw material and packing material receipt from the 3PL DC, finished goods dispatch to distribution partners, and all on-site purchasing operations within the factory compound. The role is critical to ensuring zero line stoppages due to material unavailability, full GMP/FSSAI compliance across the cold chain, and cost-efficient primary distribution from the plant to Bhiwandi DC and direct trade customers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Managing Supply Chain of the plant by deploying strategies developed with the Corporate Supply Chain including Planning, Procurement & Warehousing /Logistics.
  • Ensure raw materials, packaging materials and finished goods related to plant are placed with optimum utilization of space while ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements and internal quality and safety standards.
  • Manage smooth flow of incoming and outgoing materials from/to warehouses and drive adherence to target service levels
  • Coordinate and monitor labor contractors, local transportation vendors and recommend suggestions for contracts/ agreements related to warehouse operations, direct and indirect purchase
  • Monitor & improve the supplier/vendor /contractor performance following defined KPIs & target scores  for direct and indirect purchase.
  • Identify effective methodologies for disposal of scrap & redundant inventory
  • Ensuring continuous availability of materials for production in line with the requirements generated both in short term and long term
  • Manage factory warehouse operations: raw material storage, packing material storage, and finished goods, ensuring FIFO compliance, cold-chain integrity, and GMP / FSSAI standards at all times.
  • Own inbound logistics from the 3PL DC (Sanand / Ahmedabad) to the plant – coordinate daily raw material and packing material indents with the supply planner, plan truck scheduling to align with the production plan, and ensure zero production line stoppages attributable to logistics.
  • Drive outbound finished goods dispatch from the plant to the Sanand / Ahmedabad 3PL DC and Inter DC and customers, coordinating dispatch plans with the supply planning and customer service teams.
  • Own all transporter relationships, freight negotiation, RFQ processes, and rate contract management for primary and secondary transport on the Ahmedabad network.
  • Manage import documentation, customs clearance coordination with CHAs, and end-to-end import logistics for raw materials (Nutraceuticals, specialty ingredients), ensuring timely clearance and delivery to the plant or 3PL DC.
  • Lead implementation and daily compliance of SAP / SAP B1 within the plant warehouse; ensure real-time inventory accuracy, cycle count discipline, and daily stock reporting to the supply planner.
  • Track and report logistics KPIs – OTIF (inbound and outbound), freight cost as % of net revenue, warehouse utilization, transit damage rate, and inbound adherence – on a weekly basis to the Plant Head and GPN Supply Chain leadership.
  • Build and lead a plant logistics team of 4–6 operatives and supervisors; define SLAs with the 3PL partner, conduct monthly SLA reviews, and enforce performance accountability through penalty and incentive provisions in the contract.
  • Support new product launch logistics – coordinate with supply planning and R&D on packing material readiness for trials, first-batch logistics, and first-shipment execution to trade customers.
  • Drive continuous improvement in logistics costs, load efficiency, transit lead times, and sustainability metrics (load optimization, carbon footprint reduction) across the Ahmedabad network.
  • Ensure all statutory, safety, and company compliance requirements are met across warehouse and transport operations, including periodic audits, insurance management, and incident reporting.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Graduate with minimum 8 – 12 years of experience in Warehousing, Planning and Purchasing, preferably in FMCG, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, or nutraceuticals.
  • Management qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations preferred.
  • Hands-on experience managing a 3PL relationship, including SLA setting, performance reviews, and billing reconciliation.
  • Strong working knowledge of cold chain logistics operations and FSSAI / GMP compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in SAP / SAP B1 modules; exposure to network optimization tools an advantage.
  • Experience with import documentation, CHA coordination, and customs clearance processes for temperature-sensitive materials.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong end-to-end understanding of Supply Chain including Demand and Supply Planning, Procurement, logistics, inbound and outbound operations and primary distribution operations.
  • Acute understanding of the interdependency between production planning, material availability, and logistics execution in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong people management capability, including direct supervision of warehouse and logistics teams and governance of 3PL service providers.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders across supply planning, procurement, quality, finance, and regional supply chain leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage at all levels of the organization and with external service providers and transporters.
