Job Title: Tax Analyst
Department: Finance & Accounts

Candidate is preferable from CA firm, should have Direct Tax, Indirect Tax Expertise with relevant experience. 

 

Role & Responsibility    


A. GST Compliance, Accounting & Reconciliation
•    Review and verify that GST on all purchase and sales transactions is correctly classified and recorded in the books.
•    Reconcile Input GST as per books with GSTR 2B, identify ineligible credits, timing differences, and follow with respective stakeholders up for corrections.
•    Reconcile GSTR 1, sales register, and output GST liability, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
•    Validate that GST payable / receivable balances in books align with GST portal summaries (cash & credit ledger).
•    Prepare and post GST liability and credit adjustment journal entries for the period.
•    Coordinate with external GST consultants for return filing, clarifications, and amendments.
•    Track follow up items arising from mismatches, notices, or portal discrepancies.
•    Perform input tax credit (ITC) eligibility assessment, including identification of blocked credits and partial eligibility. 
•    Monitor vendor GST compliance, including filing status and accuracy impacting ITC availability.
•    Track ITC reversals and re availments as per statutory timelines.
•    Perform annual GST reconciliation between: Books of accounts  and GST annual return (GSTR 9 / 9C)


B. TDS (Withholding Tax) Compliance & Reconciliation
•    Review all TDS applicable transactions and ensure correct applicability, rate, and deduction.
•    Ensure timely accounting of TDS deductions, including vendor and employee payments.
•    Reconcile TDS payable, deducted, and remitted balances in the general ledger.
•    Validate monthly and quarterly TDS filings and challan payments with consultants.
•    Support timely issuance and accuracy of TDS certificates.


C. Direct Tax & Advance Tax Support
•    Assist in preparation and validation of advance tax and deferred tax computations based on current financials.
•    Support filing of income tax returns and related schedules in coordination with consultants and Group tax team.
•    Prepare reconciliations between book profits and taxable income.
•    Maintain documentation for tax audit, assessments, and reviews.


D. Transfer Pricing
•    Coordinate with Central Tax / Group Tax team for transfer pricing compliance.
•    Maintain and update transfer pricing documentation, agreements, and inter company transaction details.
•    Support TP audits, assessments, and information requests with accurate data and explanations.


E. Payroll & Employee Tax Compliance 
•    Maintain a payroll tax compliance calendar covering payroll taxes, filings, payments, and returns.
•    Coordinate with HR and payroll teams for tax queries and reconciliations.


F. Tax Litigation & Assessments
•    Prepare and compile documentation, reconciliations, and factual submissions for tax notices and assessments.
•    Draft initial responses, explanations, and working papers for consultant and management review.
•    Coordinate with tax consultants and central teams on notices, hearings, and appeals.
•    Maintain a litigation tracker detailing status, exposure, and timelines.


G. Governance, Controls & Audit Support
•    Maintain proper tax accounting schedules and reconciliations for month end and year end close.
•    Support internal, statutory, and tax audits, including data extraction and clarifications.
•    Ensure adherence to statutory timelines and escalate risks proactively.
•    Continuously track changes in tax laws and assess impact on business transactions (with escalation to Finance leadership)


H. Compliance Ownership & Reporting
•    Own and maintain a comprehensive tax compliance calendar covering GST, TDS, Direct Tax, Payroll Taxes, Transfer Pricing, and statutory filings.
•    Monitor statutory due dates, filing status, tax payments, and dependencies with consultants and internal teams.
•    Proactively escalate risks of delayed or missed filings to the Financial Controller with quantified impact.
•    Ensure management has periodic visibility on compliance status through dashboards or summary reports.
•    Prepare and present comprehensive monthly tax review pack
•    Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and controls strengthening.
