The Opportunity
Responsible for creating sample blends, pilot batches and fielding internal and external technical questions pertaining to ingredients and premixed products. Responsible for creating D2H products on the tablet press and maintaining a clean and orderly R&D Lab. This permanent position will report to the Formulation Scientist Manager.
- Clear communication with internal stakeholders and R&D personnel.
- Premix sample preparation (accurately weighs, calculate, and mix nutritional ingredients) per internal SOP.
- Research application of ingredients by measuring particle size, bulk density, and subjective or comparative description of color, odor, etc. through tactile and visual observations.
- Ensure ingredient compliance to internal and/ or customer specifications
- Troubleshoot applications and raw material interactions and/or functionality in the lab
- Support the research and development of new ingredients, blends, processes, and finished products
- Research, evaluate, and approve various processes and raw materials for their use in manufactured products as needed
- Resolve and answer technical inquiries on bulk ingredients and manufactured products as needed
- Maintenance of tableting equipment and tooling according to Manufacturer guidelines.
- Support interdepartmental objectives (i.e. Marketing samples) for distribution.
- Prepare shipment of R&D samples daily.
- Self-lead research of new innovations in solid dosage forms to increase Glanbia’s value-add for D2H formulas.
- Other R & D responsibilities as needed
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Maintain R&D Laboratory inventory, as needed.
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Trade schools, minimum High School.
- Interest in nutritional ingredients, food and beverage development.
- 3 years experience in nutrition or manufacturing industry.
- Ability to weigh, calculate, and mix nutritional ingredients and prepare formulas accurately.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times.
- Must have demonstrably strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), to include speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel with the utmost professionalism.
- Self motivated, attention to detail, a passion for creativity and curious nature
- Presentation skills preferred
- Understanding of regulatory compliance with cGMPand HAACP preferred
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and possess team-based problem solving skills.
- Must be results focused and oriented toward accomplishment of team and organizational goals.
- Ability to handle multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include overtime when needed.
- Well organized and self directed individual focused on achieving the organizational strategic goals and initiatives
- A decisive individual who possesses a strategic focus, as well as an operational, implementation and detail oriented perspective.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.

Compensation for roles at Glanbia varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience. Glanbia provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in CA. This range may not be applicable to other locations. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The annual salary for CA based employees for this role is $50,000- $62,000.
