The Opportunity
The Senior Director, Internal Communications will play a critical leadership role in shaping how Glanbia connects with its global workforce.
You will co-create and deliver an engaging, inspiring, and results-driven internal communications strategy that enables business performance, accelerates transformation, and strengthens Glanbia’s position as an employer of choice.
This is a highly influential role requiring strong business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to partner credibly with senior leaders across a complex, global organisation. You will be passionate about Glanbia’s purpose and values and will build a high-performing internal communications function that drives clarity, alignment, and engagement at scale.
Key Accountabilities
- Shape and steward Glanbia’s internal narrative, translating business strategy into clear, compelling, employee-relevant communications that drive understanding, engagement, and action.
- Develop and lead an enterprise-wide internal communications strategy aligned to business priorities, employee experience goals, and transformation agendas.
- Establish governance and coordination across HR, business units, and functional teams to ensure consistent messaging, prioritisation, and alignment across all employee communications.
- Design and maintain integrated communication calendars, channel frameworks, and toolkits to ensure consistency, reduce duplication, and optimise impact.
- Own the enterprise internal channel ecosystem (e.g., OurGlanbia, Viva Engage, town halls, video, digital signage), ensuring accessibility and effectiveness across global employee populations.
- Enable scalable storytelling through consistent frameworks, templates, and approaches that elevate quality and impact globally.
- Lead communications strategy for major enterprise initiatives including culture, transformation, change adoption, DE&I, performance cycles, and engagement programmes.
- Measure and evaluate communications effectiveness using engagement analytics, sentiment insights, and channel performance data; continuously refine strategy based on insight.
- Develop dashboards linking communications activity to engagement, adoption, and business outcomes where possible.
- Leverage AI and automation tools to enhance content creation, audience segmentation, insight generation, and measurement capability.
What You Bring
- Significant experience in internal communications, employee engagement, and/or organisational change communications, with proven ability to engage and influence senior leadership teams.
- Experience operating in large, complex, global organisations with a track record of delivering measurable impact.
- Strong expertise in internal communications channels and platforms (e.g., intranet, Teams/Viva Engage, newsletters, video, town halls, digital platforms).
- Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience in a communications agency environment is highly desirable.
- Degree in Communications, Business, Organisational Psychology/Development or related field is an advantage.
- Strong strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution capability and a passion for employee experience.
Location & Ways of Working
This role is based in Chicago, Illinois, or Dublin, Ireland with hybrid working arrangements that support flexibility, balance, and impact.

For Illinois-based roles, the salary range for this position is $200,000 – $240,000 base + annual bonus, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and internal equity considerations.
