The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for an Associate Legal Counsel position on the Glanbia Group Legal team based in Citywest, Dublin (with hybrid working). Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, this role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad in-house experience across commercial contracts, corporate transactions and advisory work in a fast-paced multinational environment. This is a development role, ideally suited to a candidate seeking to build strong commercial judgment and practical risk management skills, while working closely with senior members of the Group Legal team and stakeholders across the business.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Review, draft and negotiate day to day commercial legal agreements (including supply, purchase, distribution, licensing, lease and non-disclosure agreements)
- Advise on enforcement of contractual terms around termination, exclusivity, restrictive covenants and potential warranty / indemnity claims
- Work closely with senior members of the Group Legal team on corporate and M&A work including internal corporate restructurings, legal due diligence, drafting and negotiating certain transactions agreements (e.g. confidentiality agreements, and heads of terms), co-ordination with external counsel, and supporting the integration of the business post-completion
- Provide practical legal advice on a broad range of areas including data protection and privacy, AI governance, ESG requirements, competition law, anti-money laundering and some employment / HR related matters
- Advise in relation to disputes and legal proceedings, and, where necessary, engage and manage external lawyers
- Advise on intellectual property issues including protection of IP and potential infringement activities
- Work with senior members of the Group Legal team on ongoing updates to Glanbia company policies and Group Legal precedents, together with training initiatives to internal business units
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Recently qualified solicitor, barrister or international equivalent with 1-2 years experience either in-house or in a large / mid-tier law firm
- Strong drafting, negotiating and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Solid commercial contracts experience gained in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work on own initiative and be motivated to deliver the legal department’s value add agenda
- Ability to multi-task and use a systematic and analytical approach to identifying issues and problem solving with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Previous experience in a multinational corporation would be an advantage
