The Opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Production Manager to join our team. In this role, you will direct and coordinate activities in the whey production areas, processing raw materials and manufacturing customer-specific products. You will perform these duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. This permanent position will report to the Senior Production Manager and duties include but are not limited to the following;
Key Responsibilities:
- Review production orders or schedules to determine product data and plan department operations.
- Plan and prioritize production operations, establishing sequences for manufacturing products.
- Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality meet specifications.
- Review production and operating reports, resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to minimize costs and prevent delays.
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Compile, store, and retrieve production data, and resolve or escalate worker grievances.
- Utilize continuous improvement processes to drive zero losses, uphold company culture, and ensure compliance with safety and food regulations, including after-hours response for plant outages and emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Provide leadership through example and knowledge sharing.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, with effective presentation and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and understanding of TPM and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficient in personal computer skills, including email, record keeping, database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures, and participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Physical ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, with regular involvement in talking, listening, standing, walking, and using hands and fingers.
