 The Opportunity

The Senior Commercial Finance Analyst will drive financial performance in GPN’s business in the Continental Europe region.  The appointed person will work closely with the regional commercial teams and support the Senior Commercial Finance Manager to ensure that all elements of financial performance are optimised, enabling delivery on operational targets and on longer term strategic and profitability goals.  The Senior Commercial Finance Analyst will have strong commercial judgment, advance modelling, storytelling and influencing skills.  They will influence stakeholders and challenge assumption to drive shared performance goals.

Primary responsibilities for this role will include:

 

 

  • Support the regional Commercial Manager and GM with analysis and insights that contribute to the development of the 3‑year strategic plan, focusing on growth and profitability across multiple regions.
  • Partner with regional commercial leaders by providing financial analysis, reporting, and performance insights that help drive achievement of financial objectives.
  • Assist with the annual financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, including preparation of inputs, models, and supporting schedules for P&L forecasts.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial performance reports; support the explanation of actual results through clear, insightful analysis and presentations.
  • Contribute to the month-end close process by preparing required analyses, reconciliations, and commentary in collaboration with the head office accounting team.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities that support initiatives aimed at driving revenue growth and improving profitability.
  • Assist in developing financial models and business cases for strategic projects, ensuring robust financial assumptions and analysis.
  • Maintain and enhance key performance metrics, dashboards, and analytics that accurately reflect business performance and support decision-making.
  • Prepare value chain analyses for NPD innovations and new distribution opportunities, supporting the review and approval process.
  • Support the assessment of organisational changes by delivering financial modelling and analysis to ensure decisions are grounded in sound financial rationale.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and reporting tools that enhance analysis and decision-support across the region.
  • Provide tailored financial insights and analysis to stakeholders to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Work closely with the financial control team to support financial controls and balance sheet accuracy for the region, with particular focus on trade and marketing spend tracking.
  • Collaborate with Central FP&A teams to support the delivery of required budget and forecasting cycles in line with group timelines.

 

The skills you will bring to the team

  • 3rd level qualified and fully qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA)
  • 5+ years of corporate accounting and commercial finance experience
  • Experience supporting financial performance delivery and providing analytical insight within a regional or multi‑market business
  • Strong financial management, analytics and commercial experience in CPG/FMCG/retail trade
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting and financial principles across Europe
  • Strong motivational skills and ambition.
  • High energy, high creativity but ability to work through the details
  • Experience working effectively in fast‑paced environments with changing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Strong commercial acumen and strong appreciation of the challenges of growing a business via both e-commerce and bricks and mortar
  • High level of ability in terms of project planning, prioritisation and critical thinking will be essential
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented and well organised.
  • Excellent computer skills and very strong command of Excel and other relevant applications.
  • Experience of SAP and Business Objects is highly desirable
  • Ability to work under own initiative and contribute to continuous process improvements
