The Opportunity
The Security Architect is a strategic role forming and delivering on Glanbia’s vision and roadmap for IT security services, maintaining the enterprise security architecture in alignment with the organisation vision. The security architect works closely with IT implementation teams to ensure that security principles, standards, and frameworks are embedded across IT environments to protect Glanbia’s IT systems, networks, and data. They collaborate closely with IT, OT and business stakeholders to ensure security controls and standards embedded in Glanbia’s IT environment, providing governance over technical security implementations. They are also responsible for managing security controls and frameworks, conducting structured risk assessments, and driving the technical design and integration of data sources with MXDR partner teams.
Primary responsibilities for this role will include:
- Supports the Head of Information Security, Risk & Compliance to define, implement, and maintain the overall security strategy and roadmap in alignment with Glanbia’s requirements and risk profile.
- Collaborates with the Head of Information Security, Risk & Compliance to develop and maintain the Information Security Management System (ISMS) and Information Security, Risk & Compliance policies in alignment to industry frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS).
- Defines and maintains the enterprise-wide security architecture and architectural frameworks (incl. third-party systems, infrastructure components), ensuring alignment with the overall security strategy and wider business needs.
- Assesses Information Security risks across enterprise systems through structured risk assessment processes, ensuring IT services are delivered in compliance with wider technology and privacy regulations; monitors compliance with Glanbia’s IT and Information Security policies across Information and IT assets.
- Drives the technical design and integration of data sources with MXDR partner teams; consults on SOC operations and technologies, providing incident management and support as required.
- Monitors security controls and frameworks (e.g., vulnerability management, application security, business continuity management and resilience, identity & access management, firewalls, endpoint protection, IDS / IPS),.
- Ensures privileged access management (PAM) best practices and monitor for violations across the enterprise; provides guidance to IT teams to adhere to security best practices.
- Evaluates and advises on security vendors and products, ensuring they meet the Glanbia’s requirements and align with the overall security strategy.
- Provides security oversight for major IT changes and assess security risks (e.g., application systems, access controls, infrastructure and network security configurations), ensuring alignment with security best practices and agreed standards; provide security architecture expertise for new technology solutions.
- Consults on vulnerability detection and management activities performed by partner teams, providing technical guidance on penetration testing processes and reviewing reports on demand.
- Consults on major incident and disaster recovery support, IT change governance around Information Security, and where Information Security approvals are required for controlled and security-sensitive processes.
The skills and experience you will bring to the team
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering), or equivalent experience.
- Industry certifications highly desirable (e.g. CISM, CISSP, SABSA, CCSP, GIAC)
- 7+ years of experience in IT security architecture, security governance, or IT risk management roles.
- Deep experience designing and maintaining enterprise-wide security architectures, ensuring security principles are embedded across IT solutions.
- Proven track record of managing security controls and frameworks (e.g., vulnerability management, application security, business continuity management and resilience, identity & access management, firewalls, endpoint protection, IDS / IPS), from use case development and analytics, to design and playbook configuration.
- Demonstrable experience conducting structured IT risk assessments for vendor engagements and IT projects.
- Extensive knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS) and how they can be leveraged to develop enterprise security architectures.
- Strong understanding of encryption standards, data protection protocols, and PKI (Public Key Infrastructure).
- Proven track record reviewing IT projects and technology solutions against agreed standards and frameworks; experience conducting security risk assessments and orchestrating risk mitigation actions.
- Experience overseeing partner services to provide execution of security capabilities (e.g., incident management and response, threat hunting and management, vulnerability management and detection, penetration testing, SOC, audit).
- Knowledge of Identity & Access Management (IAM) concepts (e.g., RBAC, PAM, MFA) and best practices as well as exposure to environments implementing them.
- Good stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate security concepts into clear business language.
