Job Summary

Maintain the agricultural equipment assigned to the specific work areas. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of farm vehicles and equipment.  Seasonal duties may include driving tractor doing planting, tillage, harvesting, and soil repair.  Additional duties may include maintenance and repair of irrigation equipment and infrastructure under the direction of the Land Application Supervisor.

 

Essential Functions

  • Operation of tractors using a variety of implements for farming operation
  • Operate power equipment and hand tools to install, and maintain farm equipment and irrigations systems.
  • Check assigned equipment for proper operation and timing.
  • Mechanical understanding
  • Other maintenance or operational duties as assigned
  • Regular attendance is required
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health  Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct

 

 

Additional Functions

  • Comply with safety policies, practices and procedures.  Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Follow written or verbal instructions while attending to Tillage and Crop operations
  • Ability to be on-Call during required seasons.
  • Operate Backhoe Loader, and other equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic personal computer skills.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and the safety regulations

  • Regularly involves talking, listening, sitting, and the use of hands and fingers.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.
  • Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, and observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, and judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 20’ off ground.

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment, light traffic, farm equipment).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat and cold, and outdoor weather conditions.

Travel Requirements

No out of the area travel requirements.  Candidate must be able to get to the Gooding Farm daily in all seasons.
