 The Opportunity

Our Supply chain in Europe comprises of a single manufacturing site, a number of strategic co-man & delivery partners and an end-to-end supply chain organisation that supports a regional commercial business unit and other select international markets.

The supply chain must continue to evolve and diversify as we stretch to become capable of true omnichannel plays whilst delivering capacity and capability attuned to our growth ambition and customer / consumer preferences.  As a key strategic partner to the regional business team, we must be an agent for change in the application of scale, synergy, technology, process and efficiencies to ultimately meet our goals

 

The Supply Chain elements of this in Planning, Warehousing, Logistics & Customs are key to our ambitions and day to day operations, as well as a key contributor to strategic and operational change.

You will be an experienced Supply Chain leader who is passionate about steering operational excellence, driving standardized best practice and scaling the business for the future.  They must also have demonstrated commercial acumen with a track record of delivering significant organizational change both functionally & across remits / teams beyond supply. 

 

Primary responsibilities for this role will include:

 

  • Nurture and build a strong team able to meet current and future challenges and to provide credible succession at all levels.
  • Developing departmental and functional strategy plans that link seamlessly to regional & international business goals.
  • Leadership of the Logistics function to design, implement and manage a mainly pan European Logistics Operation but also other international markets, via multi-channel routes.
  • Drive network optimisation in order to leverage best CTS options.
  • Identification of new suppliers, delivering innovation and continuous improvement as well as building, developing and maintaining relationships to support business objectives.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Logistics & associated planning activities within Europe including warehousing, inbound and outbound transportation & onward distribution, including final mile.
  • Ownership of all planning activities for the EU region (Supply, Demand, manufacturing and materials). Oversee and manage the team responsible for the rolling forecast and supply plan & its impact on manufacturing.
  • Leverage the systems (JDA/SAP/Tableau) we have to build robust, data driven forecasting that delivers an optimal balance of forecast accuracy, service, inventory & SLOBs risk for GPN
  • Continuously improving forecasting techniques, method, and approach. Develop and track key planning KPI’s, such as forecast and mix accuracy, on a monthly basis for individual customers
  • Lead monthly S&OP process & ongoing development of this.
  • Act as point of escalation for customers with Commercial and to determine product availability or timing of new promotions and opportunities that were not previously included in the forecast.
  • Lead all on-site logistics operations at the GPN production facility in Middlesbrough with a particular focus on improved productivity /operational efficiencies.
  • Manage all logistics services within the contract manufacturing European footprint and product importation & exportation where required from non-EU locations
  • Work closely with Legal and Group Tax whilst maintaining ownership for trade, customs and excise compliance as well as ensuring contracts are drawn up in accordance with Glanbia standards
  • Support the development of a long-term regional capacity plan with functional inputs and solutions

The Skills you will bring to the team 

  • 3rd level qualification in Supply Chain Management preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Supply Chain/Planning role within a European/International FMCG environment
  • Experience of leading a broader but not necessarily end-to-end Product Supply team
  • Excellent team leadership and participation skills
  • Work across boundaries to build key relationships with customers both internally and externally.
  • Ability to lead a team of people to consistently achieve KPI’s in a fast paced environment
  • The skill to get to the heart of problems and issues, applying expertise effectively.
  • Ability to analyse processes and procedures and implement continuous improvements
  • Strong communication skills with excellent stakeholder management skills to help build relationships internally and externally
  • Expert knowledge of SAP functionality and JDA (or equivalent planning system)
  • Very strong Microsoft Excel skills for data manipulation analysis, coupled with MS PowerPoint skills to support effective communication

Where and how you will work  

The opportunity will be based in our Plant in Middlesbrough with a requirement to be onsite a number of days each week.
