The Opportunity 

Responsible for carrying out hygiene processes in line with specified requirements. Maintaining and assisting the Hygiene Team Supervisor to deliver continuous improvement in your areas of responsibility and across the site, whilst encouraging best practice at all levels within the organisation to promote clean as you go and a right first time approach to hygiene. Responsible for meeting and exceeding the requirements and expectations of the position.

The role is primarily based on the factory floor, in a typical modern food manufacturing environment, although you may be required to work in other areas of the business from time to time.

 

Health, Safety & Welfare

  • Nothing is so important that it can’t be done safely; the welfare of your colleagues is paramount and you must promote and support a safe working environment and foster a culture of “safety first”.
  • Ensure that cleaning activity in your area of responsibility is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the relevant cleaning instruction card.
  • Ensure the working environment and equipment meet with internal hygiene standards at all times as directed by the Hygiene Supervisor or Hygiene Manager.
  • Where hazards are identified and risk levels are deemed unacceptable immediate action must be taken by you to remove the hazard or where this is not possible reduce the risk to acceptable levels. Hazards must be raised with the Hygiene Supervisor, Hygiene Manager or Shift Manager
  • Support and drive the business accident prevention initiatives through the reporting of potential accidents to the Hygiene Supervisor, Hygiene Manager or Shift Manager.
  • Ensure all relevant safety signs (such as wet floor signs) are used correctly and appropriately
  • Use all equipment and personal PPE properly in accordance with the training provided, ensuring that equipment is kept clean, well maintained and in working order. Reporting any issues to the Hygiene Supervisor.

Food Safety & Legality

  • Maintaining the integrity of our products and therefore the business itself is an absolute.  You must ensure this is always the case as we never knowingly compromise product safety.
  • Responsible for ensuring that scheduled hygiene activities are delivered at defined frequency to meet with the expected standard.
  • Ensure that hygiene record sheets are completed for your area of responsibility
  • Responsible for ensuring that the correct equipment and chemicals are used to meet the needs of the work being carried out. Have a full working knowledge of the equipment, materials and approved chemicals.
  • Responsible for adherence to and driving good manufacturing practices through leading by   example

Quality

  • Never knowingly compromise on quality; pursue Customer Fixation and show Passion for our Brands by striving for the highest possible standards of quality in our products, people and plant.
  • Ensure all hygiene standards meet the requirements of the internal specifications and are carried out in line with the requirements of the cleaning instruction cards
  • Responsible for the use and control of your own personal protective equipment, shoes, lockers and equipment in accordance with documented procedure.
  • Report any foreign body incidents and near misses to the Hygiene Supervisor
  • Liaise with operations teams and production personnel to ensure good manufacturing practices are followed and that good standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained.
  • Support the operations team in ensuring relevant hygiene requirements are completed and that they are completed in good time to the required standards
  • Highlight any hygiene issues to the Operations and Quality Assurance Teams to ensure appropriate action is taken.
  • Ensure a strong and open working relationship is maintained with the Operations and Quality Assurance Teams to be confident of high standards of communication
  • Participate in training and briefings as required, relating to hygiene issues.
  • Complete any other related duties which are within your capabilities according to the needs of the business and as directed by Hygiene Supervisor.

People / Structure / Team Development

  • You must Develop the Best in everyone within their roles with regard to EHS to ensure our success in achieving legal, customer, business and individual targets, whilst building a Sense of Fun into what we do.
  • Identify skill gaps or training needs and highlight to the Hygiene Supervisor
  • Flexibility within the role towards the business needs to ensure holiday and absence cover within the team

Communication

  • Good quality communications at the right time will ensure the highest standards of Teamwork from all your colleagues within the business and make certain we are all pulling together in the right   direction.
  • Ensure you are completely conversant with your KPI’s, and how your role can influence achievement
  • Actively participate in team meetings

Planning & Control

  • You must maintain a structured approach to the delivery of the site strategy plan and the business targets as second chances to get it right are rare.
  • Responsible for the appropriate storage of hygiene equipment, chemicals and cleaning records to provide quick access and ease of identification
  • Ensure you are conversant with cleaning methods and techniques, ensuring an appropriate level of assurance and a strong due diligence defence
  • Support the Shift Managers to ensure that planned hygiene activities are carried out to promote the best possible outcome and performance.
  • Report all absence or lateness to the hygiene Supervisor

Cost & Efficiencies

  • Achieving required output with minimum wasted effort, time and expense; meet standards consistently to achieve the cost base to continue our growth and drive world class Performance, whilst always striving to Find a Better Way.
  • Ensure best use of resources including consumables and chemicals. Ensure minimisation of waste and maximisation of efficiency
  • Stringent adherence to all systems & procedures must be adopted by you.
  • You are encouraged to put forward project suggestions for process and cost improvements
  • Actively promote improvement activities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the team to deliver best return for the business first
