Quality Control Related Responsibilities
- Implement various analytical tests on incoming samples of raw materials (RM), product components (Intermediates), and Finished Products to assure the Quality of the component. These include but are not limited to:
- Logging samples into the Sample Data Base.
- Performing analytical tests using the following testing equipment and recording results:
- Densitometer (SG-Specific Gravity)
- Refractometer (RI-Refractive Index)
- VIS-Spectrophotometer (ABS-Color Absorbance)
- pH meter
- GC FID
- Alcohol by Distillation
- QC testing and data review, CoA generation.
- Compare test results with specification ranges to determine batch to batch consistency of the product.
- Maintain Customer Specifications in ERP system and Batch Works systems to ensure consistent communication of specifications to customers and equivalence of the two specification management systems.
- Support Research and Development by providing analytical support for all requested sampling.
- Product approval in ERP / warehouse
- Coordinate with production/operations to document production yields.
- Communicate issues to Quality and/or Production Management, take ownership of solving batch-specific problems
- Assist in complaint investigation and data gathering.
- Coordinate and perform, with trained team all sensory analysis of incoming samples according to established procedures.
- Shelf life extension evaluations for finished products, and raw material / intermediate expiration evaluations.
- Organization and cataloguing of retain library, samples folders, paperwork organization, ordering retains to support QC evaluation.
- Maintain cleanliness of the lab according to Good Laboratory Practices.
- Order supplies and reagents.
- Create transmittals and associated sample request forms and labels for outside testing, gather / prepare these for shipment.
- Retrieve and send documents related to Internal RM / Intermediate transfers and for Regulatory requests.
- Update and communication raw material, intermediate, and finished product specifications as required
- Respond and provide formula information to support regulatory requests
- Ensure effective communication of all quality related information with other departments.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a 4-year degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, food science, or related field
Experience in QC Laboratory setting for 1-3 years, ideally in Flavor or Food industry.
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting lab instrumentation, such as spectrophotometers and gas chromatography.
Experience with performance of organoleptic testing and release of product against quality standards
