Quality Assurance Tech

Responsibilities

1. Follow all food safety guidelines in testing, sampling, and storage.  Within the scope of responsibilities, understand and monitor Critical Control Points (CCP’s), and understands and conforms to all food safety and HACCP guidelines. 
2. Assist with investigation of internal deviations and customer complaints
3. Daily communication with production personnel to place batches on hold, correct issues, report findings and trends, and/or suggest process improvements.
4. Maintain retention of samples, other testing, production testing and monitor QA functions. 
5. Perform compositing and additional lab testing as assigned by the Quality Supervisor.
6. Maintain a clean and audit ready work area at all times. 
7. Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices.
8. Complete all other duties as assigned.

Outside Laboratories:

• Provide samples to outside labs with appropriate testing requirements. 
• Liaison between the outside lab and Pac Moore.
• Responsibility to immediately notify management if any critical food safety test results are a risk (Pathogens, Allergens).
• Check information returned from outside labs to determine if results meet specifications for the product being tested with emphasis of immediately notifying management of issues.
• If a product result does not meet specifications, assure that the product is handled appropriately for the issue.  This includes rejecting product, placing product on hold, quarantine, etc. as necessary.

Important Relationships

• Communication with Manager (Quality and Operations)
• Regular communication and team work with Customer Account Managers, Office Management, Safety and HACCP Teams
• Works with a culturally diverse work force

Qualifications

• High school graduate (or equivalent).   Some high school or junior college chemistry or biology preferred
•  Strong attention to detail with good record keeping skills
• Must be comfortable working autonomously as well as collaborating with others.
• Reading and Comprehension
  • Must be able to read and interpret request forms and certificates in English
  • Must be able to learn new lab skills or operate equipment
  • Must be able to consistently repeat methods and techniques learned  
• Able to balance multiple priorities and change direction while completing tasks in a timely manner and accurately.
• Able to coordinate, maintain and complete all necessary paperwork and database requirements in a timely fashion
• Able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in written form
• Perform relevant math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and working with decimals and fractions
• Ability to positively interact with others in the plant and office. Ability to ask questions and/or conduct research as needed in a positive manner 
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (occasional)
• Able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours daily
• Works on a flexible schedule as needed
• Maintains a clean and sanitary work area
• Has competence to specify the safety, quality and operational criteria necessary to fulfill obligations with regard to legal compliance and protection of the consumer in a food manufacturing organization

Work Environment

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and move around for extended periods.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
