Role Description:   

The Account Executive – Grocery & Convenience is responsible for supporting and executing the sales strategy across key grocery and petrol and convenience customers in Australia. Working closely with the Commercial Manager and cross-functional teams, the Account Executive will help manage customer relationships, drive in-store execution, optimise promotions, provide administration support and contribute to the achievement of sales and profit targets.

 

This role is ideal for a commercially driven individual with strong attention to detail, experience in FMCG, and a desire to grow in customer-facing roles within a dynamic retail landscape.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities 

  • Provide support for the commercial team across key grocery and petrol & convenience accounts (e.g., Coles, Woolworths, 7-Eleven, Ampol, EG Australia, OTR, The Distributors).
  • Assist in preparing customer presentations, range reviews and promotional plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer data, promotional calendars, and pricing.
  • Coordinate the execution of promotional plans, pricing changes, and new product launches in collaboration with field teams and supply chain.
  • Monitor in-store execution through regular field sales updates and reports.
  • Track promotional effectiveness and suggest improvements based on data insights.
  • Assist with preparation and attendance at trade shows and expos.
  • Prepare sales reports, market share analysis, and promotional post evaluations.
  • Support demand forecasting and planning, collaborating with the supply and demand team.
  • Validate and process claims and provide financial analysis support.
  • Work closely with internal teams including Marketing, Category, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure seamless execution of customer initiatives.
  • Collaborate with field sales teams to ensure alignment on channel strategy and execution.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer behaviours in the grocery and petrol & convenience channels.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to drive growth and profitability in the channel.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong computing, analytic, reporting and presenting skills, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience working with SAP or a related financial management system.
  • Fluent in English

 

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree or near completion in Marketing, Business or Commerce.
  • Prior experience in FMCG sales, marketing or a commercial support role.
  • Strong understanding of the retail or convenience sector in Australia
  • Prior use of scan data software for analytical reporting  

 

Desirable

  • Experience with grocery, petrol and convenience wholesalers or retailers
  • Exposure to trade marketing, category management, or field sales
  • Knowledge of customer data systems such as IRI, Quantium, or customer portals.
  • Exposure to wellness, sports nutrition, or health food categories
