Assistant Financial Controller – Plant Operations

The Opportunity
Provides support to plant controller and operations staff, with emphasis on Plant/Department Manager and Production Managers.
Essential Functions
- Compile data and prepare weekly production reports.
- Compile weekly financial report for review at staff meetings.
- Compare and analyze actual plant expenditures to budget/forecast, ensure correct accounts are charged, and report unusual findings.
- Manage physical inventory process for ingredients, packaging, cleaners, plant supplies, office supplies, safety supplies, etc.
- Manage finished goods cycle count process. Compile weekly finished cycle count report and send discrepancies to the warehouse for reconciliation.
- Reconcile monthly finished goods inventories.
- Research variances between SAP inventories and physical counts.
- Responsible for Petty Cash.
- Manage and develop staff
- Responsible for process improvement and standardization in assigned area
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance; or a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, and handle multiply projects simultaneously.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Participates in special projects/ action teams.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Physical Demands
- Regularly involves talking or listening, sitting, and the use of hands and fingers.
- Frequently involves reaching with hands and arms, standing and walking.
- Occasionally involves crouching, stooping, kneeling, and/or climbing or balancing.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
- Involves sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
- Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, and see clearly at 20 inches or closer.
Typical Environmental Conditions
- May be exposed to loud noise levels (i.e. manufacturing equipment).
- May be exposed to fumes and toxic chemicals.
Travel Requirements
- Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
