 Position Summary

The Assistant Maintenance Team Lead is a mid-level leadership role that bridges the gap between hands-on technicians and upper management. You’ll typically support a Maintenance Manager and superintendent in overseeing daily operations while still performing technical repairs. 

 

 What You’ll Do

  • Team Coordination: Reviewing, prioritizing, and assigning work orders based on urgency and technician skill levels.
  • Technical Support: Performing complex repairs (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and troubleshooting difficult equipment issues that other technicians cannot resolve.
  • Preventive Maintenance (PM): Overseeing PM programs to minimize equipment downtime and ensure facility reliability.
  • Supervision: Monitoring staff performance, providing immediate feedback, and assisting with training new team members.
  • Inventory & Vendors: Tracking parts usage, ordering supplies, and coordinating with outside contractors for specialty repairs. 

 What You Bring

  • Experience: Requires 2–5+ years of maintenance experience and at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead capacity.
  • Education: A high school diploma.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills are essential for managing both people and schedules.


Work Environment

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and move around for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Physical Strength: Exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Movement: Occasional climbing, stooping (bending body forward and down), crouching (bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine), reaching (extending arms and hands in any direction), and handling (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands).
