Site Director

The Opportunity- Site Director 

The Site Director leads all plant operations and continuous improvement activities with overall responsibility for Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and other production support areas. This role achieves operational excellence through active leadership on the production floor, fostering employee engagement, developing leaders at all levels, and creating a zero-loss culture where safety, quality, cost, delivery, and continuous improvement are embedded in daily operations.

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead from the production floor by maintaining a significant operational presence throughout the facility, coaching leaders and employees, reinforcing standards, identifying opportunities for improvement, and fostering a culture of ownership, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives through the use of data analysis, loss reduction methodologies, and Glanbia Performance System (GPS) principles to improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
• Direct and optimize the utilization of personnel, equipment, facilities, and operational resources to maximize performance, minimize downtime, reduce losses, and ensure adherence to production schedules.
• Develop, manage, and deliver operational and capital budgets, including identifying, planning, and implementing capital projects that improve facility performance, equipment reliability, capacity, and productivity.
• Monitor and analyze operational, production, maintenance, quality, environmental, and financial performance metrics; identify risks and opportunities; and ensure timely resolution of operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, food safety, quality, regulatory, and customer requirements, including OSHA, SQF, FDA, PMO, and company standards.
• Serve as the primary site leader for regulatory inspections, agency visits, emergency response situations, and critical operational issues; communicate effectively with stakeholders to protect employees, customers, and company assets.
• Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable managers, supervisors, and employees by establishing clear expectations, providing regular feedback, identifying training needs, and supporting professional growth and succession planning.
• Develop workforce strategies to ensure appropriate staffing levels, technical capabilities, and organizational effectiveness through hiring, training, performance management, and talent development.
• Partner cross-functionally with commercial, quality, safety, finance, human resources, purchasing, information technology, maintenance, and training teams to achieve operational objectives and meet customer requirements.
• Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and adherence to company values and non-negotiables through effective communication and leadership.
• Resolve customer concerns and complaints while ensuring products consistently meet customer specifications and service expectations.
• Report operational performance, communicate critical business issues, and provide strategic leadership for projects and initiatives that impact plant and company-wide success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Food Science, Business, Manufacturing, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including responsibility for plant operations, safety, quality, productivity, and financial performance. Experience in food, dairy, ingredient, or regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
• Proven experience driving continuous improvement through TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, GPS, or similar operational excellence methodologies.
• Comprehensive understanding of food safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, SQF, FDA, PMO, and other applicable industry standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational, financial, and performance data; identify trends; develop solutions; and drive sustainable business results.

  Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

The Site Director is expected to be highly visible and approachable throughout the facility, coaching teams, driving accountability, and ensuring employees have the tools, knowledge, and support required to operate safely and effectively. Production Operations include extrusion, spray drying, blending, repackaging, sifting, toll processing, turnkey processing, and packaging of dry goods for the food industry. This opportunity will be based onsite at our facility in Mooresville, Indiana.
