Senior Global Trade Operations Specialist

As the Senior Global Trade Operations Specialist, you will manage a centralized customs operation’s function to the multi divisional business of Glanbia and its joint venture partners and you will be responsible for informing the supply chain strategy of the group from a duty optimization perspective.
You will provide support to EMEA, North America, China, India, Oceania and Asia. You will be responsible for assuring that business conducts efficiently and at all times in full compliance with all customs regulations, as well as all internal policies and procedures.
Ideally, you will be equally comfortable in the detail and informing the strategy of the group with respect to sourcing and tariff optimization.
In summary, you will be responsible for customs compliance, operational support including field support as well as the management of reliefs and providing strategic direction in terms of customs valuation as well as duty optimization.
Reporting to Business Services Director.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance
- Ownership of product tariff classification process across the group, oversight of all classification ruling applications and arrangements and keeping current with relevant tariff classification changes.
- Oversee compliance with Customs legislation and regulations including maintenance of customs related records and managing all customs deferral account applications and ongoing monitoring of their operation.
- Responsibility for customs compliance processes and procedures.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with, and optimization of, all applicable customs special procedures (IPR, OPR, Customs Warehousing, Temporary Import, etc.).
Operations
- Be the business partner and SME for all customs queries from the business and manage external consultancy relationships.
- Carry out site assessments, audit of suppliers, brokers etc. and review of relevant customs documentation, customs brokerage agreement, manage identified improvements/developments as well as manage all field audits with customs authorities in conjunction with the business.
- Support Glanbia sites on origin determination, qualification under Free Trade Agreements and issuing of Long-Term Supplier declarations and support participation in Import Compliance Programs (e.g. AEO).
Strategy
- Assess the need for and drive efficiency across all customs processes through leading the implementation of automated solutions in the customs space including but not limited to SAP Amber Road.
- Provide due diligence and M&A support.
- Determination of custom valuation methodologies and working with Group Tax to ensure consistent with transfer pricing rules.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Supply Chain, Logistics, Tax, Finance, Sites etc.) to support corporate planning initiatives and tariff optimization across the supply chain.

The skills you will bring to the team
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
- 7-10+ years combined supply chain and customs top-tier experience with a MNC or consulting firm.
- Hands on experience with applicable customs regulations, policies and procedures development, government interactions, valuation and trade programs.
- Structured and analytical thinker, data-driven with strong technology capability.
- Prior management experience is desirable.
- You will be commercially astute with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels within a global business.
- English fluency required and multiple language skills desirable.
