The Opportunity
The EHS Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple facilities/states (including CA, OH & NJ) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. This role conducts risk assessments, leads incident investigations, interprets regulations, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety culture and environmental stewardship.
Essential Functions
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific EHS programs aligned with corporate standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local requirements; advise operations and leadership.
- Lead risk assessments (JHAs, ergonomic evaluations, chemical hazard reviews) and recommend engineering and administrative controls.
- Support PSM programs across multiple sites, including MOC and PSSR activities tied to engineering and maintenance projects.
- Manage the Industrial Hygiene program, including dosimetry, personal/environmental exposure evaluations, and lab hood performance testing.
- Manage environmental permit compliance (air, water, waste), including reporting, recordkeeping, and corrective actions.
- Oversee waste management programs, including hazardous waste handling and vendor coordination.
- Ensure spill prevention and emergency response readiness, including training, drills, and coordination with site partners as needed.
- Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis; implement corrective/preventive actions and communicate findings and lessons learned.
- Maintain OSHA logs and required EHS documentation; ensure accurate reporting of recordable injuries.
- Develop and deliver EHS training (safety and environmental compliance, emergency response, new hire orientation) and coach leaders/employees on hazard recognition and safe work practices.
- Drive safety culture and continuous improvement by supporting BBS and injury prevention programs, maintaining communication boards/dashboards and KPIs, conducting audits/inspections (including external inspection readiness), managing compliance calendars and GRMS management system activities, and participating in corporate EHS initiatives and sustainability reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in EHS-related roles within manufacturing or industrial environment (chemical/flavors industries and PSM-covered processes preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications (preferred): ASP, CHMM, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR/Hazwoper.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills; effective communication and collaboration across all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment.
- Ability to interpret technical and regulatory information and communicate it clearly in writing.
- Comfortable presenting information and responding to questions from leaders, employees, and external partners.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and EHS systems (e.g., Intelex, Alchemy) or similar tools.

- Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
Typical Environmental Conditions
- May be exposed to 85+dBA noise levels in which hearing protection will be needed.
- May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, poor lighting, and/or above ground with a danger of fall.
- May be exposed to air-contamination, toxic chemicals, wet/humid environment, extreme heat (non-weather), and outdoor weather conditions.
Where And How You Will Work
The opportunity will be based at our Sharonville, Ohio location and could include overnight travel up to 10% by land and/or air.
