The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, the role is a key position within the Quality Team. The role is based primarily within the manufacturing site and will be factory and office based. The role is customer facing with responsibility for both internal and external customers/stakeholders.

 

Where and how you will work:
The opportunity is based in Middlesbrough within a Technical department of 30+ members in a typical modern food manufacturing environment. For this job role, individuals can benefit from some Smart working with approx. 90% time spent on site.

 

Role responsibilities:

Health, Safety & Welfare:

  • Contribute to a safe working environment such that equipment, plant and people meet with legislative and internal health and safety standards at all times and support the risk assessment, safe system of work and Accident / Near Miss reporting processes.

Food Safety, Quality & Legality:

  • Responsible for document control of the Food Safety Quality Management System
  • Responsible for completion of detailed factory specifications.
  • Key customer contact with regards to quality enquiries and complaints.
  • Complaint investigation, reporting and responses, liaising with the operations team on preventative measures and supporting a complaint reduction plan. 
  • Completion of documentation for customers
  • Responsible for leading quality investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and closed out.
  • Working with the wider site and technical team ensure all relevant KPIs are completed on time.
  • Represent the technical team at the daily operations meeting ensuing all actions are feedback and followed through to completion.
  • Support directly and indirectly all site certifications; BRCGS, ISO 14001 and any internal/external audits.
  • Lead annual reviews of all department SOPs and Risk Assessments
  • Become a Key member of the site HACCP Team
  • Lead the site internal audit program, by completing quality management system and practical factory environmental audits, chairing monthly meetings.
  • Assist with absence cover for Quality Assurance Technicians and Senior Quality Co-Ordinator
  • Maintain consumables list and place orders through Ariba & SAP
  • Maintain calibration records and certification
  • Responsible for the completion of customer specifications using online portals
  • Ensure and maintain the appropriate storage of both samples and quality records to provide quick access and ease of identification in the case of any investigation or enquiry. Ensure retained samples are effectively rotated.

 

What you will bring to GPN:

 

  • Previous food industry experience within a quality or technical function essential.
  • A Degree or HND standard of education in a relevant discipline or time served within a food factory environment
  • Level 3 or above in Food Hygiene
  • Level 3 HACCP qualification (Desired)
  • Training Qualification or Experience in delivering training
  • TACCP / VACCP experience
  • Basic microbiology and chemistry experience
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook) is essential and SAP experience would be a distinct advantage
  • The ability to work in a fast moving rapidly changing business is essential.
  • Highly organised with ability to prioritise workload
  • Build strong relationships with customers both internal and external to the site
  • Great team player with the ability to influence
