The Opportunity
In this role, you will provide support through quality assurance, innovation, and technological improvements to our cheese, whey, and food manufacturing processes. Your primary focus will be on product and process improvements, creating superior products with exceptional quality and functional properties. This permanent, full-time position will report to the Sr. Director – Technical Services. Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Drive innovation, problem-solving, and act as an internal consultant.
- Collaborate with plant management to identify and resolve process-related issues, emphasizing new processes and technologies.
- Implement, troubleshoot, and monitor plant processes, including innovations, cost reductions, yield, waste, and loss.
- Liaise with production, R&D, and quality assurance/control to ensure common objectives are met.
- Resolve food chemistry and microbiology issues.
- Conduct in-process research and develop process innovations.
- Manage both short-term and long-term implementation and improvement projects.
- Provide statistical analysis of technical data and create reports.
- Develop new specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new products and processes.
- Promote safety and comply with EH&S policies and procedures.
- Lead and manage process support and the development of new manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with plant operations and engineering to commercialize and scale new products.
- Provide plant sanitation procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Optimize cleaning systems to minimize loss and enhance control of chemicals, products, and water.
- Assist in scaling up new products/processes and conduct plant trials.
- Provide technical support and new product commercialization at co-manufacturing plants.
- Facilitate and execute in-plant testing of new products ensuring full validation and operational readiness.
- Establish clear roles and responsibilities for team members and grow their skills and capabilities.
- Lead focused improvement teams and manage projects independently or in a team environment.
- Ensure full technical transfer of new products, processes, and equipment into operations.
- Integrate key financial factors into all decision-making.
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Master’s degree in food science/technology, chemical engineering, or related field and eight years practical experience and/or training in relevant industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage direct reports.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Understanding of process improvement and quality improvement concepts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety policies and practices.
- Overnight travel up to 40% by land and/or air.

Where and how you will work
This position is based out of Twin Falls, Idaho. The successful candidate must have the ability to travel to various locations within Idaho as well as other locations throughout the United States. Travel requirements may include site visits, customer meetings, and participation in industry events. Overnight travel up to 40% by land and/or air is expected.
