The Opportunity 

A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Accountant who has the energy, enthusiasm and drive to “make tomorrow happen” at Glanbia Business Services (GBS). This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract and will report to the Financial Accounting Team Lead.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative environment where there is a key focus on continuous improvement, while delivering high quality, reliable services to other divisions within Glanbia.

 

  • Responsible for posting high volume bank transactions to the nominal ledger and ensuring accuracy on a daily and weekly basis.
  • On a daily basis complete bank reconciliations of high transaction volume accounts
  • Completion of multiple payment runs by running SAP programs to select vendors for payment and transmission to authorisers
  • Support with payment of urgent business critical transfers
  • Complete manual input bank transfers following relevant controls.
  • Respond to payment queries and issues in a timely manner
  • Deliver payment improvement initiatives identified to reduce costs and increase productivity
  • Supports the payments team in ensuring all relevant Payment policies are implemented and adhered to
  • Maintains a strong set of financial controls ensuring that their area of responsibility is compliant with the group policy
  • Provide support for new payments systems
  • Develop a close working relationship with the Finance team in the business unit and across Glanbia
  • Provide payment reporting and support to business units across Glanbia
  • Manage the day to day delivery of all tasks in line with the service level agreement
  • Intercompany reconciliations and Fixed asset accounting monthly.
  • Ad hoc work as required in the role to include systems testing and participation in project roll-outs

 

 

 

The Requirements & Skills you will bring to the team

  • Experience gained in a similar role in a multinational business environment.
  • High degree of computer literacy with experience in MS Office (Excel) essential  and SAP knowledge preferable
  • Experience with Blackline is preferable but not essential
  • Excellent data analytical skills
  • Ability to work with high volume transactions and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communicator with experience in engaging with customers, colleagues, Senior Management and external service providers.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Self-starter capable of working in a close knit team
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn about company systems and procedures
  • Experience with SAP is desirable but not essential
