Job Summary

The Electro-mechanical technician is responsible for the maintenance (both preventative and emergent) and troubleshooting of

systems and equipment within the plant. The candidate will test/troubleshoot Power Distribution systems (wiring, VFDs, etc),

PLC Processors, instrumentation, etc. This position will be on the floor working on equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)

 

· Be a member of the plant maintenance organization and remain involved in all projects at the Glanbia plants.

· Test and troubleshoot power distribution systems, program VFD’s, PLC processors, instrumentation, etc. Setup and

program drives, transmitters, etc.

· Assist with instrument calibrations

· Calibrate PIDs, I/P’s, etc.

· Coodrdinate with and schedule contractors

· Provide equipment electrical functionality to maintenance and operations employees as needed

· Review and understand program ladder logic; perform small modifications as needed.

· Responsible for work order execution and completion of electro-mechanical related tasks as assigned

· Participate on the preventative maintenance plan as assigned

· Manage/support equipment development and install independently and as part of a team

· Responsible for creating, modifying, and editing orders in the SAP system as needed

· Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems and equipment

· Provide timely planning of general work orders.

· Optimize planned maintenance routes (PM’s) and work with the Maintenance Manager.

· Optimize predictive maintenance practices

· Knowledge of air compressors, pumps and heat exchanges a plus

· Own electrical components in the plant (VFD’s, instrumentation, wiring, motors, panels, PLC’s, etc.)

· Facilitate “break down analysis” for each equipment failure based on a priority impacting the production schedule;

troubleshoot electrical issues in the field.

· Assists and/or leads in development of control schema’s, implementation and managing associated vendors

· Maintain equipment history and equipment documents in a useable library.

Experience

Required: · Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing facility

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: · Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. · Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others. · Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. · Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and

spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

· May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels (i.e. production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic).

shock.

JOB SUMMARY

The Mechanic I maintains and repairs machinery and equipment ( e.g.- Blenders, Fluid Beds, Film Lines, Grinders, Sifters and other production machinery). This employee has the responsibility to report food safety hazards or personnel safety concerns to their immediate supervisor. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities:

  • Repairs and maintains plant equipment
  • Repairs and maintains power support systems
  • Repairs and maintains hydraulic systems and equipment’s
  • Maintains lubrication of all equipment machinery
  • Troubleshoots and performs electrical repairs and wiring
  • Understands and follows manufacture’s specifications for equipment operations and repairs
  • Competency with hand tools, power tools, welding and machine shop equipment
  • Examines finished product for defects and codes
  • Works scheduled shift and extended hours as required
  • Completes assigned weekly preventative maintenance and planned work orders
  • Maintains a daily shift call log
  • Generates and closes SAP work orders
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintains all assigned safety trainings
  • Maintains all PPE needed for ones job performance and safety
  • Works independently and with other Team members

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education, Training:      

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Experience Required:   

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in the repair and maintenance in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:       

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to work with amino acids, vitamins and fine chemicals in powder and liquid form as well as allergen products.

Language, Computer & Numeracy:        

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and written
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs
