The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Electrical and Controls Engineer to join our team! In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, and maintaining systems that control and monitor manufacturing and utility equipment. This role blends hands-on technical work with strategic project execution and offers the opportunity to lead impactful initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong troubleshooting capabilities, a solid technical foundation, and a passion for continuous improvement. This permanent position will report to the Director of Electrical Engineering & Project Management and duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead the design and implementation of electrical and controls systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and automation issues, including off-hours support as needed
- Manage installation and retrofit projects for controls and electrical equipment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new automation and manufacturing systems
- Develop and maintain documentation, backups, and training materials
- Generate capital expenditure requests and manage project budgets and timelines
- Provide technical guidance to Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams
- Identify and implement cost-saving and continuous improvement opportunities
- Stay current with industry standards, codes, and emerging technologies
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley preferred)
- Experience with VFDs, servos, MCCs, and motor control systems
- Familiarity with Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and industrial networking
- Strong project management and leadership skills
- Excellent troubleshooting, time management, and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD
- Experience with vision systems, utility systems, or facility construction is a plus
- Willingness to travel up to 10% based on project needs

Glanbia provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Illinois. This range may not be applicable to other locations. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. Annual salary for Illinois - based employees for this role is $115,000 - $140,000.
