The Opportunity
Are you passionate about ensuring safety and optimizing daily operations? Join our team as a Safety & Environmental Team Leader, where you will oversee the wastewater treatment plant, laboratory, water plant, plant grounds, and land application fields. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining a safe and efficient environment. This permanent, full-time position will report to the EHS & Engineer Manager and is fully onsite. Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Safety Program Implementation: Provide daily guidance and direction on safety program implementation, safety training, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Operations Management: Operate the potable water treatment and reverse osmosis plant, ensuring cost control and optimal use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
- Accident Prevention: Develop and incorporate accident-prevention and loss-control systems into operational policies.
- Safety Coordination: Manage and coordinate safety activities through subordinate supervisory personnel to ensure organization-wide implementation.
- Hazard Identification: Identify and appraise conditions that could produce accidents and financial losses, evaluating the potential extent of injuries.
- Research and Evaluation: Conduct or direct research studies to identify hazards and evaluate loss-producing potential of systems, operations, or processes.
- Data Analysis: Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents, preparing reports for concerned personnel.
- Liaison Maintenance: Maintain liaison with outside organizations, such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, to ensure information exchange and mutual assistance.
- Program Evaluation: Devise methods to evaluate safety programs and conduct or direct evaluations.
- Knowledge Update: Evaluate technical and scientific publications on safety management and participate in related professional organizations to stay updated on safety program developments.
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Plant Experience: 1-3 years of experience working in a plant environment within a related industry or manufacturing setting is crucial. This hands-on experience ensures familiarity with the operational and safety challenges specific to such environments.
- Task Prioritization and Project Management: The ability to prioritize tasks effectively and handle multiple projects simultaneously is vital.
- Analytical and Interpretative Skills: The role requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret various sources of information, including general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Report Writing and Documentation: Strong writing skills are necessary for creating detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Effective Communication: The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse groups, including managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
