Assistant Company Secretary 

 

An opportunity has arisen with Glanbia plc (dual listed in London & Ireland) for an Assistant Company Secretary with core company secretarial experience based on an 18-month fixed term contract position.

 

Overview

Reporting to the Deputy Company Secretary, you will be working collaboratively with other members of the department in delivering a high-class company secretarial service. The scope of this service will be broad and varied, including exposure to the Group Operating Executive and Board, listed company compliance and corporate transactions. The ideal candidate with be a qualified solicitor, ACIS/ACG qualified (or other similar legal or business qualification), with solid experience and strong interpersonal skills to tackle the role.

 

Location

The location of the role can be in either Head office Kilkenny or Citywest, Dublin office.  A hybrid working arrangement is available through our ‘Smart Working’ model, which allows you a greater choice in how you work and live, giving you a better work-life balance.

 

Key Elements of the Role

 

  • Providing technical legal and governance advice and challenge to the Deputy Corporate Secretary and deputise at meetings where required.
  • Proactive involvement in any strategic matters that impinge on the Company regulatory or statutory duties.
  • Delivery of Corporate Governance/Corporate/Treasury projects under the direction of the Deputy Group Secretary including legal entity rationalisation, reorganisation and M&A projects.
  • Collaborating with corporate functions/business segments within the Group to ensure the efficient provision of advice, information and keeping check on information flow.
  • Keep abreast and monitor changes in relevant legislation and take action as appropriate.
  • Reviewing documents for their sufficiency, identifying issues that need to be resolved, where appropriate.

 

Qualifications

  • 3rd level qualification in law, business studies or another related discipline
  • ICSA qualification (or other related discipline) beneficial
  • Qualified Lawyer beneficial

 

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years relevant experience working as Company Secretary / Lawyer in Company / Commercial fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of dealing with senior management and meeting their expectations.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work on own initiative while meeting multiple strict deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment and across functions.
  • A high degree of discretion and the ability to work with sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proficient in IT.
  • Good numerical ability and knowledge of company law.
  • Honesty, integrity and resilience.
  • Proactive hands-on approach and a can-do attitude.
