Production Quality Assurance Technician III

 

Position Summary:

The Quality Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance within our production processes. This position involves verifying various aspects of production, including areas, ingredients, inspections, cells, and finished product releases. The Quality Technician collaborates with both Production and Quality Assurance teams to uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and quality procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Area Verification:

    • Verify the cleanliness and readiness of production areas by inspecting starting components, equipment, and room conditions.
    • Ensure that all necessary preparations are in place for a smooth production process.
  2. Equipment Monitoring:

    • Complete and track results of equipment ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) and Sanitation Effectiveness monitoring.
    • Contribute to maintaining a hygienic and efficient production environment.
  3. Batch Record Review:

    • Thoroughly review Batch Production Records (BPRs) for completeness and accuracy before manufacturing.
    • Collaborate with the production team to address any discrepancies.
  4. Nutrient Blend Inspection:

    • Inspect nutrient blends during processing to ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Provide feedback and recommendations as needed.
  5. Final Product Inspection:

    • Conduct final inspections of products, including BPR review, label checks, weight verification, and visual assessments.
    • Ensure that finished products meet all specifications.
  6. Release Function:

    • Perform release functions for untested blends, following established protocols.
    • Maintain accurate records of released batches.
  7. Sample Management:

    • Manage retain sample inventory, ensuring proper storage and documentation.
    • Assist the Environmental Monitoring Technician with sample collection and submission forms.
  8. Quality Documentation:

    • Collaborate with QA management in identifying, documenting, and controlling non-conforming materials (MDR).
    • Assist with document control, including reviewing quality documents such as Corrective Action Reports (CARs), HACCP reports, and quality surveys.
  9. Collaboration and Training:

    • Support the Quality Control (QC) team by providing scans of completed BPRs upon request.
    • Participate in continuous improvement projects and contribute to the development and revision of standard operating procedures related to Quality Assurance.
  10. Training and Attendance:

    • Train Production and Quality Assurance personnel on GMPs and quality procedures as needed.
    • Maintain regular attendance as an essential function of this position.

Qualification & Experience Requirements:

  • Education and Training:

    • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Associates/Bachelor’s Degree or higher is preferred, or a minimum of 6 to 8 years of equivalent experience in quality assurance or control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience Required:

    • Minimum 6-8 years in a related role.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Solid working knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMPs), HACCP, and PCQI.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times.
    • Capacity to stay positive and calm in difficult or trying circumstances.
    • Effective interaction with all levels of personnel with the utmost professionalism.
    • Proficiency in writing routine reports and correspondence.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to follow written SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and work instructions.
    • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on issue resolution.
    • Quick and effective implementation of solutions from customer complaints.
    • Results-oriented approach, striving to meet team and organizational goals.
    • Flexibility to work flexible hours, including daily overtime and some weekends.
  • Language, Computer & Numeracy Skills:

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
    • Experience in SAP is a plus.
    • Proficiency with LIMS Labware 7.
