The Opportunity 

This position will be responsible for formulating nutrient premix based on customers’ request.  Assure regulatory compliance, complies with customer applications, shelf life, process and stability.  Participate in ingredient evaluation and provide internal blending instructions when needed.  Manage complex applications projects, communicate internally and externally for technical troubleshooting and recommendation on ingredients and premix formulation. Support innovation projects and prototype development. This permanent position will report to the Formulation Scientist Manager.

• Develop premix formulas and support quotations based on customers’ requirements or Glanbia-created concepts in all areas
• Supervise junior formulators and R&D Technicians.
• Communicate with customer managers, customers and technical team  for technical recommendation on premix formulation and ingredients
• Ensure ingredient compliance to customer and regulatory specifications
• Research, evaluate and approve various manufacturing processes, raw materials, and blends for their use in manufactured products as needed
• Manage complex application projects, provide technical recommendation internally and externally, and follow thru with technically sound resolution
• Support production by working closely with commercialization team on blend instructions and approving ingredients and blend formulation
• Participate in innovation team to develop food & beverage concepts and prototypes
• Other technical and applications responsibilities as needed
• Work close with Technical Services group, QA/QC, Procurement and Marketing 

The Skills you will bring to the team 

• Minimum of B.S., preferably a food or nutrition, food science degree, Master preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years in applications, technical service or formulations in the nutraceutical, food & beverage industry.
• Strong SAP knowledge
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Optimum Presentation Skills
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance with GMP, GRAS and HAACP
• Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times
• Ability to stay positive and calm in difficult and/or trying circumstances
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Must be self-motived, detail oriented and have a passion for creativity
• Must be assertive and be able to enforce procedures and call out deviations appropriately
• Must have excellent problem solving skills
• Must be able to follow written SOP’s / work instructions
• Must be results-oriented and strive to meet team and organizational goals
• Must be able to work flexible hours to include daily overtime and some weekends
• Periodic domestic travel, with some international travel required (~10%)
