The Opportunity 

 

The Finance Manager - Operations is a key business partner to the operations teams located at West Haven, CT and Taylorville, IL. This position is responsible for the review and monitoring of all activities occurring at the manufacturing facilities involving or having a financial impact on the Company. Key areas of focus include cost of manufacturing, inventory, operations KPI’s and product costing.

 

  • Responsible for plant budgets and forecasts in relation to cost of manufacture, inventory and operations KPI’s. Coordinate with the operations team members to determine direct and indirect headcount requirements, overhead costs, and quality testing costs.
  • Responsible for monthly financial operations close and reporting cycle, manufacturing labor and overhead variances, and production reports including overhead analysis. Provide detailed commentary.
  • Report on monthly site operations KPI’s. Measure the performance against the targets and provide detailed commentary on the variances. Liaise with the IT dept to automate the data collection and charts.
  • Responsible for leading all aspects of product costing at the sites, including setting standard costs, review of actual cost against standard, as well as supporting costing for business quotes and RFP’s. Ensure that key stakeholders understand the drivers of costs. Lead cost savings initiatives for the sites.
  • Support the product costing workstream for the Project Blend SAP integration for West Haven and Taylorville.
  • Responsible for inventory management and control functions. Manage a strong internal control environment around inventory, and monitor the controls to ensure they are being adhered to. Identify and resolve inventory-related issues by analyzing data, defining problems, providing valid conclusions, and recommending changes for improvement.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and provide analysis in all phases of the accounting process to ensure the plants have the tools needed to operate in an efficient and profitable manner. Responsible for monitoring compliance for a range of procedures and internal controls relating to plant activity.
  • Responsible for capital expenditure project accounting including ROI analysis , project spend vs. plan, and initial fixed asset setup
  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the production, quality, maintenance, supply chain and other support departments by providing analytical support and data in a timely manner. Participate in operational decision making.
  • Manage the operations finance team for West Haven/ Taylorville. One direct report.

 

The Skills you will bring to the team 

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven years of related experience.
  • CPA license preferred but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
