Production and Packaging Technician

Job Summary

The Production and Packaging Technician is responsible for packing finished pouched materials and assisting with the preparation, production, and packaging of blend materials. This role also involves maintaining equipment and ensuring manufacturing cleanliness.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)

• Assist with the screening, blending, and packaging of a variety of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, including those that are allergenic.
• Follow procedures for blend preparation, completion, and pouch packaging.
• Properly clean manufacturing equipment and the production floor, as well as assist with routine maintenance upon request from the Operator.
• Operate equipment (case taper, case coder, check scale setup, conveyor adjustment, inkjet coder, label machine) by preparing, cleaning, operating, and performing minor repairs.
• Ensure consistent adherence to work procedures (safety, quality, GMP).
• Understand how to use weigh scales and check scales correctly.
• Accurately and clearly fill out paper reports.
• Possess knowledge of batch recording and material handling procedures.
• Verify the accuracy of materials and procedures used in the manufacturing of finished goods.
• Perform all tasks on the production line efficiently.
• Effectively read and extract vital information from detailed batch records (written and electronic) to execute proper work instructions using the DQS system.
• Operate and monitor processing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure proper cleaning, packaging, and material inspection according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Report any equipment issues or damage to the immediate supervisor.
• Physically load/unload boxes of material onto/from pallets.
• Perform retention sampling on products in sterile conditions or pouches.

Physical Demands:

• Frequently involves lifting 50 lbs.
• Regularly involves standing, talking or listening, and the use of hands and fingers.
• Regularly involves going up and down stairs.
• Frequently involves reaching with hands and arms, standing, and walking.
• Frequently involves crouching, stooping, kneeling, and/or climbing or balancing.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing over 30 lbs.
• Must be able to pass a respiratory exam and fit test if working in the blending area.
• Must be able to wear a full face mask at all times when working with open product.
• Ability to work while wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including a respirator (which requires no facial hair).
• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
• Involves strenuous physical activity performing daily activities of a primarily labor-intensive nature.
