The Opportunity
Are you passionate about procurement and supply chain management? Southwest Cheese is looking for a dedicated Procurement Inventory Agent to manage, plan, and oversee the procurement activities of direct materials for our facilities. This role involves supporting site operations, training departments on procurement practices, and ensuring compliance with company procedures. You'll play a key role in maintaining supplier relationships, managing inventory, and supporting cost-saving initiatives. This permanent position will report to the Procurement Operations Manager and duties include but are not limited to the following;
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the subject matter expert for purchase order execution and management.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain inventory levels and minimize costs.
- Reconcile and adjust purchase volumes using weekly site inventory counts.
- Ensure orders meet production schedule needs and manage urgent requirements.
- Perform day-to-day sourcing activities and support the category team.
- Manage product shortages, material availability, and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Support new product trials, specification changes, and maintain accurate records.
- Uphold safety and food safety regulations while supporting the non-conformance process.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of three years of related experience.
- Experience in a food or fortification manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
- Understanding of numeracy concepts and ability to apply them to practical situations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
