The Opportunity 

The Director, Walmart Inc. will lead GPN’s Walmart business and team. The ideal candidate is driven by a passion for growth, both in business and people development. With a proven track record of driving joint-value-creation with retailers, the candidate can provide multiple examples of success. Possessing strategic thinking abilities, the candidate collaborates effectively to build the future. A digital-first mindset is essential. Extensive experience in customer planning, prioritization, negotiating, forecasting, and partnering with key internal stakeholders is required.

 

A champion for the team, this individual acts as a coach, mentor, and advocate. Praise is given when warranted, and constructive feedback is provided when needed. This person is a great communicator and leader of people.

 

Understanding the shopper, consumer, competitive landscape, retailer, and market is crucial. This individual ensures GPN’s strategy addresses the unmet needs of the shopper, consumer, and retailer. Expertise in the retail landscape is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive joint-value-creation with retailers through strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and implement customer planning, prioritization, negotiating, and forecasting strategies.
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
  • Act as a coach, mentor, and advocate for the team, providing praise and constructive feedback.
  • Communicate effectively and lead the team with a clear vision.
  • Understand and address the needs of the shopper, consumer, competitive landscape, retailer, and market.
  • Ensure GPN’s strategy aligns with the unmet needs of the shopper, consumer, and retailer.
  • Lead and manage GPN’s Walmart business and team.

 

 

The Skills you will bring to the team:

  • 10 years of relevant CPG and Walmart experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a relevant field.
  • Experience with Walmart/Sam’s Customer Team or top retailers (ideally within Consumables & Grocery).
  • Proven track record in people management and development.
  • Expertise in digital/omni-channel development.
  • Proficiency in GAP negotiating.
  • Strong strategic planning skills.
  • Experience in forecasting and trade fund management.
  • Ability to create compelling data-based selling stories.

 

Capabilities:

  • Strong people development skills (building capability, providing actionable feedback, career planning).
  • Collaborative mindset (ability to work with team members and cross-functional partners to achieve goals).
  • Digital-first mindset (understanding how to succeed in pick-up/delivery/pure play .com environments).
  • Proven strategy development skills (1-3 year planning successfully brought to market).
  • Ability to foster and build new relationships with retail partners.
  • Expertise in creating joint value with retailers.
  • Problem-solving skills with a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Strong forecasting and financial stewardship abilities.
  • Proficiency in storytelling with data (analyzing complex data sets and creating easily digestible stories for any audience).
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills.
  • High operating discipline.
  • Agility in actions and decision-making.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10% of the time.
